Nah...Robert Plant and Jimmy Page called up Alistair Crowley and made a deal to steal Janis Joplin's voice...

Either that, or Plant was lip-syncing to Janis recordings...lol.
Plant was imitating Steve Marriott, not Janis Joplin.

Got me there....I honestly had never heard that before....they were a little before my time. Appreciate the heads up....

So-not only the riffs were stolen...the lyrics were stolen...and the VOCAL STYLE was stolen....lol.

I still think Plant pulls off a mean Janis immitation, but the Small Faces thing is dead on.

NO! NO! NO! NO! NO!

NOT giving this one up Snappy. Westminster be damned! Jimi Hendrix is as American as Apple Pie, and our conversion will end right here until you say "uncle" on this one!
Even apple pie isn’t as American as apple pie.

Ok.....you win....America sucks!

Have a good one!

Some clarity: the article, which suggests "even the apple pie wasn't American" goes on to state that in England around 1381 someone made a pie that had.....apples....AND figs, raisins, dates.....etc."

Hmmm....doesn't sound like an "apple pie" to me, but it's the Smithsonian so I guess it is!

Lol

Couple of things -- I've seen 10 of the play live!

I don't think Def Leppard belongs on the list. I'd put Creedence Clearwater Revival in the fifth spot and bump the Eagles don't to 25 or 26. Also, Aerosmith is ranked probably 15 spots too high.

Seriously, no Allman Brothers, Doobie Brothers, Creedence Clearwater and Chicago? These should be in the top one third and Rolling Stones should be third Satana should be in the top ten!
Oh well, it’s all subjective anyway!!
