Return to Forever and Zappa Plays Zappa at the L.A. Greek Theatre in 2012.

In the past 22 years I've attended seven rock concerts total, compared with around seven or eight dozen in the 12 years between 1966 (my first concert — The Leaves, at my junior high school) and 1978. That year I saw UK (with Bruford), Return to Forever (original lineup), the Great Jazz Trio (with Tony), Buddy Rich, Louis Bellson, Joe Pass, Ella Fitzgerald, and The Blues Brothers (Steve Martin was the opener).

Last big show was Tool in March 2020, the week Everything Changed. Since then I saw Doug Martsch play a solo acoustic outdoor gig and three great Portland bands (Pet Weapon, Coffin Apartment, and Still/Form). I decided to skip Yob last week because of omicron. Heard it was awesome, but I couldn’t justify it because my wife works with extremely high risk patients.

Opeth at The Agora Theatre in Cleveland Ohio, February 13, 2021. Second time I've seen them.

Likely won't go to another concert until the pandemic is completely over.
Opeth played in Akron a few years ago at the Goodyear theater. Wanted to see them but nobody would go with me.

I saw Tool at Rocket Mortgage Field House on 11-16-19 in Cleveland Ohio. Great show, as to be expected.

Most recent concert was Feist in October. She was touring a new show called Multitudes - small audience, in the round, with everyone seated on stage. Some really beautiful moments, both musically and visually.

I try to go to see a lot of concerts...
I think the last really BIG production I saw was pre-pandemic, and it was Iron Maiden in Hartford, August 2019.

Then I saw a number of smaller shows at least through the end of October 2019.

I have seen 4 shows since the fall - Ben Folds, Thana Alexa (w/Antonio Sanchez on drums), Pat Metheny Side Eye, and Oz Noy Trio (Anton Fig & Will Lee) a couple weeks ago.

I'm hoping it doesn't get cancelled with the omicron surge, but I have plans to see Bernard Purdie in a few weeks.
I also have tickets for Dream Theatre in March.
