I like keeping it simple:

*Ludwig 1124 Spur-lok hit-hat with Ludwig Standard Paiste 14” cymbals with ching-ring
*Two Ludwig Standard S-270 cymbals stands
*18” Zildjian crash cymbal and 20” Zildjian ride cymbal with CAMCO sizzler

That's it!

I always like topics where we can see what other drummers are using for their gear. In the case of cymbals, I think that's almost more a personal preference than the drums themselves. After experimenting with dozens of different brands, sizes, weights, etc, the set-up I currently have pleases me because I like them and I get compliments all the time on how they truly sound like a "set" rather than cymbals that were just thoughtlessly gathered together. I think all of you guys know what I mean.
Here's my set-up. Yes, I play them all at once. A bit of a hassle for transporting and setting up but once I sit down behind the kit, I'm glad they're all there!
10" Sabian "Dave Weckl" thin splash
14" Sabian HHX "Stage" hats
14" Sabian AA "Stage" medium crash
15" Zildjian heavy crash (1970's)
16" Dream "Bliss" medium crash
16" Sabian HHX "Stage" heavy crash
17" Sabian AAX "Stage" medium crash
20" Tosco heavy ride (big bell)
21" Sabian AAX heavy ride (small bell)
21" Sabian HH "Vintage Heavy" ride
All are carefully transported in a hard-shelled "Cymbal Caddy" case with wheels and all are polished regularly so that they look and sound their best. All are at least 15 years old and all have mellowed nicely.
Although it seems I favor Sabians, I really don't. I've had nice cymbals from nearly every manufacturer over the years - nice sound but not what I was looking for.
Cymbals add a lot of color and voice to any drummer's style. Picking your ultimate cymbal set-up is almost as personal as picking the drums and sizes you play.
Just another example of why we play the greatest musical instrument ever - the drum set. No other instrument is so varied in its make-up or is even set up the same way.

I love 'em. they are factory matched late 50's avedis 16's. the bottom hat only is flanged. found mention of them in some period avedis publication. ive got tons of avedis hats. these have not left the kit since I got them however. sellers pic..

Thanks Gerry,
re that Platinum thin--I actually bought it used from my former drum teacher back in 1992 and have used it as my main crash ever since. It still looks almost brand new and is still very responsive and fun to play on...my 17 Projection crash sounds great when hit hard, but isn't too expressive at low to moderate volumes. It does sound beautiful when played w/mallets.
