That set is beautiful! Those bearing edges are so clean, and the yellow is an attention grabber! Can you explain your rack tom config to a complete newb? Thanks

I’m not sure if this question is to me, but on this particular set I’m going a little bit unconventional with my set up - 13” x 10” followed by the 12” x 9”.

The Star Bubinga is an entirely different animal than the Starclassic Bubinga ,, the guys from Japan Have really outdone themselves this time, these things have a sound that just has to be experienced first hand ,, totally awesome drums!

Talked with Tama PA again today - the other rack tom , floor tom and bass drum should be here soon.

With the Star series you can custom request any size you want I have a 15“ x 13“ floor tom on its way.

Ok , I tuned the 12 x 9“ tom and the 14 x 6 1/2“ snare today in the higher register’s (bop tunings) - insane! You have the bop sensitivity surrounded by the bubinga growl , truly awesome.

I encourage everybody who wants to have an entirely different sound , that they will not get from any other snare in their collection, get a Tama Star bubinga 14 x 6.5 , I highly recommend it.

So the kit I played most today was all Paiste Masters and one Signature ,, the 15” Master hats were crazy good …. And the only drums were the Star 12” x 9” tom-tom, Star 14” x 6.5” snare and the Gretsch bell brass 14“ x 6.5“ absolutely stunning snare …. So a lot of creative playing today :)

One sidenote, the TAMA Star’s are packed to the nines like Mapex , but the tuning out of the box is like a 6 ,, the Masterworks , on the other hand , are the least packed items I have ever seen in any type of high end industry , simply a drum in a box nothing more except for one piece of tissue paper, I kid you not. Yet they are a 10 on the tuning side right out of the box, insane!
For those who want to see me unboxing my Star Walnut kit, here you go.

Really, really nice sir! Tama's star series are some of THE nicest drums out there. May I ask what the wait time was from order date until they started to show up?

Thanks! Wow that's over a year for most of them. Can't wait to see pics of that Bubinga kit when it's all setup.

It’s pretty amazing how much different the Star Bubinga’s are from the Starclassic Bubinga’s. So much warmer, richer and feel different (softer) under the stick. Amazing drums as all the Star drums are. They feel feel as aged Cognac. So happy for you!

Here we go guys n gals , set up and gorgeous , can’t stop playing them and I truly encourage everyone to get yourself a STAR BUBINGA snare - sounds like nothing else , Tama nailed these drums.

Making sure the internal inlays are inside the bass drum :)

^^^ I wanted to add this one side view pic here to go along with the above 9 pics. I like how clean and uncluttered the set up looks.

Also the Sunny Yellow on these drums pop in an indescribable way in person that a picture can’t truly capture.

Anyway here’s the pic.

@Steech , your going to go nuts over your Tama Star and Pearl Masterworks …. I know everything about your Pearl , tell me about that Tama ,, is it used? Does the 5 piece include the snare drum? It looks like it could be bubinga from my smart phone? If so be prepared IT’S INSANE! Anyways SQ2 , Masterworks and Star - you are blessed , and you won’t be selling any of those three!
