Here’s mine from a gig today. Originally a classic USA custom micro bop (12x16 BD 12, 14 toms), I went more micro and added a 10” and use the 12” in FT position. Coupled with a matching mardi gras 4.5x14 Broadkaster snare. A keeper!

Thanks - Quiet depends on me too, but it works well with the upright bass with some amplification through the MB150. Great amp for upright!

I don't recall if I've posted on this thread but the smallest I have are a 10x14 Gretsch, with 7x8 and 11x13 toms (I have since bumped the bass up to a 14x16 Renown converted bass), and a 10x14 Slingy 5 ply which I converted to a field bass, added a snare stand thru the set o matic tom mount, and I can mount a snare on top. I have used it for both quiet gigs, and this past summer, slung it on my shoulders using cajon/djembe holder straps, added a cowbell and splash, and made it a 1 man band type contraption playing at my kid's baseball games to pump up the crowd!

I've posted these elsewhere, but here's my 16" kit. It's a '66 Cocktail Kit bass. It came with the consolette and the snare stand mount and no bonus holes where the handle would have been, so I think that may be factory? Obviously the toms are not original. I'd love to find green sparkles to go with it someday.

If I poor water on a tiny base drum, will it swell to a normal size?

Tiny means LESS than 18". Thats too big. So 16", 15" and 14" bass drum diameter only.

I've had this idea for many years now, about having a 2-n-1 kit, where the bass drum could be tossed aside, when needed/wanted, and a second kit could be built from the toms and snare alone.
To facilitate this, I proposed that the floor tom, which would be laid on its side and used as a small bass drum, could use the legs it came with, as BD legs/spurs, as well.
To illustrate this idea, in a thread where it seemed NO ONE was getting my point, I took these pics of my 14x14 Ludwig Classic Maple floor tom, in the proposed "BD position", using the FT legs as BD legs.....

...because of the nature of the legs on that particular kit, I couldn't retract the legs in all the way, but the idea was to do just that. Retract the legs all the way in (just like as if you were packin' it up), then point the offsets downward, so they could work as "BD legs".
Works pretty good.
....in those days, I smoked, so I used the pack of cigarettes I had to shore up the other end (ideally, I would've made a riser that I could connect the BD pedal to).
Fortunately, I kicked that habit 10 years ago.

Looks good. I put "L" arms in the leg mounts and Pearl feet with a Dixon riser . I'm also using a FT as bass and a 10" and 14" toms all parts from my large kit.

The whole idea of those pics were to demonstrate that one can use floor tom legs as pseudo bass drum legs (instead of having to get a separate set of BD legs).
I meant to have those legs retracted all the way in, but Ludwig (in their infinate wisdom) only serrated half the leg, so that's as far as one can retract them. They've since come to their senses and serrated almost all of the leg.
