This is what a $25 drum key looks like.

Very cool. In another life I was a locksmith so I knew it was either an old lock or type of cabinet lock

Yeah, she knew I liked that key so she gave it to me when I was about 8 years old; we never locked that bathroom door anyway and could easily unlock it with screwdriver.

Just joshing ya. I semi collect drum keys. Spending $25 on a drum key is silly.
I've been meaning to ask if anyone who collects drum keys would like to have this. Been laying around here for over 40 years. It came with a Ludwig Super Sensative that was purchased by my high school for the concert band. I got my hands on the drum when it was new and pocketed the key without thinking much about it. It's never been used. Don't think I even removed it from the pouch. Has the little arm that folds out to adjust the individual snare strands. Nothing super cool, but it's pretty old.

If anyone wants it, just shoot me a PM.

Mike Johnston gushes endlessly over this one

I think he stirs his Macha with it too.

Cherry Hill makes some beautiful stuff.

How many here have actually worn out a drum key? I mean literally until it started spinning instead of turning the tension rod. I would never spend 25 bucks on a drum key, but I guess with some of the new metallurgy they are making drum keys that will last a lifetime. I'm too old to find out. I'll stick with keys I get for nothing. My favorite is still the right-angle key that comes with the bass drum pedals. I use two regular keys when I am putting on new heads, and then the right angle when making adjustments, which is almost constantly. The right-angle key makes it so much easier to get to the bottom tom heads.

I like drum keys like the next guy, but I just can’t spend a lot of money on them. There are some pretty ones, however.
