You just stated the key words : not rush . It’s so easy and temping to rush , just have to resist and let it unfold . I’m really glad I let them sit sanded all that time and finally decided to stain them instead of wrapping them . The bonus is I can use the heads I normally use instead of the classic fit which I already bought . My one mistake . Luckily I hadn’t bought the 14’s and the 20’s but I have the 22’s , 16’s , 12’s and 13’s . Clears on the bottom and coated on top with a coated resonate bass and powerstroke batter . I guess I’ll list them .

The classic fit will still work fine with the shells “normal” sized

I’m picking up a 67’ Slingerland WMP 5pcs. in original condition that need to just be broken down and cleaned , I might keep them and install them on that .

Both plugs were made from drum sticks. I will be using softer multi-purpose dowels for the other holes. That big one that appears to be from a mount of some sort may be the challenge, but even then, I think it will be relatively easy to plug. I won’t bother to smooth them flush on the inside, as I am purposely going to not cover up repairs.

In my quest for finding a blank out plate for my Rogers bass drum, it is confirmed that a previous owner of this Gretsch snare drilled for a Rogers Swivomatic mount. This is interesting. It’s somewhat tempting to see what it’s like sound-wise to mount the Swivo and be done, but alas- that would be a bit lazy on my part. I will fill the hole, instead

Test-fitting an INDe strainer and butt. These are amongst the finest strainers, even bumping my beloved DW Mag with 3 position butt. The strainer fits vintage themes better, as well.

The patient has been most cooperative. I am beginning to see light at the end of the tunnel, and this hasn’t been all that difficult. The toughest part is the paint removal. I need to be patient with this process.
