True and not true.
My ears have never agreed with the 5x14” LM400.
On the other hand I love and have always loved the 6.5x14” 402. To my ears; two totally different animals. Plus it was the right sound for the song I was tracking.

I've never had a 402. My main snare for 40 years was a 400 that I got in high school.

Played a really cool venue last night with my White Stripes tribute. The crowd loved us, yay!
One of two rehearsal days scheduled (the other being next weekend) to work up the 2023 Hall & Oats Tribute set... a lot of changes from this years show so a little time in the rehearsal space. My camera would not pan wide enough to catch both of them in the same pic, "Darrell" is in the back right corner while "John" is of course playing guitar.
And my last church gig of the year and not really planning on doing many next year due to travel, so I enjoyed today for sure.

I had a great run of shows with these Craviotto Diamonds (13,16,22) & Savage 6.5 5mm tama BB replica.. (always Istanbul Agop) These drums are really great..
The band is called, ARANDA. Rock with all the right amount of power and soul. Killer songs, blazing guitar stuff, ridiculous vocals... really challenging gig. These shots are from the "Rev Room" in Little Rock, AR.

Sax/singer buddy and I did “Conga Christmas with Tim and Phil” this morning at the Nebraska National Guard Museum. We saluted those who serve overseas and have to spend holidays away from home by playing holiday and other tunes in tropical style.

@Fat Drummer here is a pic if that snare. It is a weird one-off that came from Ridgeland with 302s instead of the usual single-flanged and claws. A good sounding and feeling snare.
Heck yes, that is a looker to be sure, even sounds good in the pic!

Pics from last night’s gig . This Gretsch USA Custom kit has become my very favourite kit since I received it in April of this year . It feels like a comfortable pair of old shoes . Everything is exactly what I like on this kit . The bass drum cymbal arm and Tom mount and no RIMS mounts
. The snare is a walnut Stave snare from a Quebec builder called Ebenor . This drum has revitalized my interest in stave shell snares .
Paiste cymbals complete the set up . I also had to add some pics of the Beato Pro 1 bags . Fred has become a great friend and I really love his bags .
