Whilst assembling material for an upcoming Top Vegemite-Eating Drummers, I stumbled across an astonishing news article revealing that Australia (pop. 25.9 million) -- a country heretofore known chiefly for Crocodile Dundee, the Croc Hunter (R.I.P), AC/DC and Kangaroos -- has an economy heavily weighted in the manufacture of drum sets, with as many drum factories as the number of Australian bands I can name off the top of my head: Divinyls, Rose Tattoo, King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard, The Easybeats, INXS, Midnight Oil, Cold Chisel (?) and Men at Work!
If you break this down on a per-capita basis, New York State alone should have at least six drum companies. Slackers.
