If you had two 11x13 toms and wanted to make one tom a rack tom and the other a floor tom, how would you go about it? What heads would you use and how would you tune them? All I have for heads to choose from is two clear ambassadors, two diplomats, and an Evans UV1. Not sure if I could get a good versatile sound from these one-ply heads so I might have to buy at least one two-ply head. I don’t really want to have to put a bunch of tape to tame the drums and don’t really want to buy another head but I will if I have to. Do you guys have any advice? Can I work with what I got?

I’d put one Ambassador on the rack and the UV1 on the FT for batters. Put the Dip on the rack resonant side and the remaining Ambie on the resonant side if that's all you have to work with. In a better situation, a clear Emp on both batters with Ambies on both resonants.
