Too lazy to look back right now (anyway, I gotta get dinner goin'), but there used to be a forum called Drumset.com.
One of the guys there was a dude named "Funkster".
This guy was THE Music Major!
I remember he had a website that listed all the books he studied from and it like a whole page unto itself.
To say the guy knew his stuff was an understatement.
I remember a similar thread at that website and he mentioned an english TV show that ran in the late 70's and early 80's called All Creatures Great and Small, which were stories about a Scottish veterinarian getting his start in the 1930's in the English countryside known as The Yorkshire Dales (which is actually a huge national park now).
The theme song to that show really impressed him.
I used to watch that show with my dad on Sunday afternoons and never really thought much about it, but I found it on Youtube.
The drums are real funky in that piece.
Check it out.....

I heard the WKRP theme the other day and never really took the time to appreciate what a fantastic drum groove it had. It got me thinking about some of my other favorites from the 80's - Night Court and Barney Miller (which we played in high school stage band).

Great hook and key change/ modulation in the WKRP intro and then on the other end of the stratosphere for the take out theme. I love how the lyrics are indiscernible. Just adds to the fun!

The drums on Hawaii Five-O were killer!
Was that Earl Palmer? I'm not sure. He played on so many TV themes: M Squad, 77 Sunset Strip, Bourbon Street Beat, Hawaiian Eye, Peyton Place, I Dream of Jeannie, Green Acres, Ironside, The Outsiders, It Takes A Thief, Leslie Uggams Show, Brady Bunch, Della, Partridge Family, Burke's Law, The Man from U.N.C.L.E., The Odd Couple, M.A.S.H., and others. Plus dozens of film scores. In his heyday, the guy was everywhere.

There were so many good ones! Barney Miller was the first one I thought of when your post got my attention. Mission Impossible, Hawaii 5-0, Sanford and Son, Starskey and Hutch... I thought Jan Hammer did a great job with Miami Vice...

John Guerin on that track. Another under-rated player!

How about :

I looked into some of these and the GREAT Earl Palmer played on many of them

There were several versions of The Man From Uncle theme. The original from season one in 5/4 was one of the greatest TV themes of all time, IMO!

PS: Love the timpani and French horns at the end.

Music starts at about 1:45. Outrageous:

I’m doing a record with my weirdo jazz guys, Spider-Man, Jetsons, Munsters, Twilight Zone, …

Those tunes have a lot of unexpected complexity that one doesn’t notice on casual listening.
Randy Waldman did an album called “UnReel” about 20 years ago that is all music from movies and TV. Vinnie on drums, Patitucci on bass, Michael Brecker, Lew Soloff, Branford Marsalis, Gary Burton. Real solid album with some fun arrangements. Vinnie throws DOWN.
