I’ve got some old Ludwig’s (actually WFL’s) and the floor tom leg mounts have the springs. It’s a players kit not collector condition. How do I make it practical for gigging and eliminate the “springy” noise? I don’t like how they function so options are to replace or remove the spring and drill/tap the mount and install a wing screw. Problem is I can’t find a replacement with 2.5” hole spacing. Thoughts?

i think Gretsch has a two piece mount you could use, how ever since you have the old parts, I would dill hole in the center of mount, and find 3 of the innards from a Ludwig p1216 mount and use them to hold legs, I think there is another brand that uses this same setup.

INDe mounts would work nicely, although sort of a pricey solution. The mounting points are adjustable, you might need the larger size but they are the same price. If it were me ( and I have a few floor toms with those legs) I'd bite the bullet and spring for a set as the best alternative not involving any drilling.
