I just dropped off my 1975 Slingerlands for a re wrap at Precision Drum. They said “ You see how the lugs are positioned right over the seam of the wrap? “That will cause the lugs to wobble. They offset the lugs so it is not on a seam. I did not know that. I asked them to look at the bearing edges. They were fine but they said they needed to be trued up after putting them on a flat surface. All said and done, They are giving me same day service. They ( George and Gary) said they will look awesome and sound better. They have quite a place there and it’s obvious they do excellent work. I was happy to meet them.

I've heard nothing but good things about Precision so I'm sure you'll be thrilled with the results.
And don't forget to post pictures.

I've never had wobbling lugs from them being over a seam on the wrap, but the offset from the shell is different with those 2 lugs (or 1 in the case of a double ended lug) which can cause the hoop to be pulled a bit off center making it ever so slightly offset from the head which is centered on the bearing edge.

Edit: Oh wait, you mean the lug is literally over the seam line in the wrap, not just stacked on top of the overlapping wrap (ie: 2 layers of wrap under the lug)? So, the lug is a bit crooked? Okay, well if the mounting screws aren't tight, that can lead to a wobble.

It’s def worth the trip, nice crew.
Did you get a chance to get in the showroom and tap on a few of their kits?

I’ve taken a batch of drums there for new edges. When they put them on the flat table they wobbled 1/8”, you could slide a couple stacked quarters under them. They do great work.

They DO do great work and are great people besides. If money is an issue, you can staple some sandpaper to a flat square board, put the drum on it and turn back and forth 50 times, then put on a flat surface and see if you have made it level. If yes, then go over the edges with some fine sandpaper just to take the roughness off.

Apart from being somewhat level ,wouldn't this make your edges flat ?

No, not if you dont press down too hard. the idea is to sand down the "high" spots, not really touch the rest of it. its a judgement call on how much you should turn but if youre careful, this does work well.
