WFL De Luxe Marble Paramount

I picked up this 1941ish 7x14 WFL Paramount De Luxe Marble yesterday and it's in beautiful condition. It came with 11" and 13" toms that I need to fix up a bit.

The guy wanted $40 for them......but I paid him more.

Yeah the seller was kind of shocked that I offered way more than he was asking. I find crazy prices like this all the time in Ohio.

Yes the toms match. Tacked bottom heads, however all heads were completely destroyed

My set had no bottom heads as the set is the Capitol outfit. I'm wondering if there is a place that can put new tacked heads on you toms? That would be cool.

I just sold this, but I have another one just like it dated April 21 1941(written inside in White). No bottom heads. Mine are both the Deluxe Capital Outfit like Kurt's.

Very cool! Thanks for sharing. One thing that seems odd about mine is the solid white bass drum hoops. Most all of these drums I have seen have had the sparkle inlay like the ring around the toms. Normally I would say that mine could have been a cheaper model with the white hoops, however my snare is a twin strainer, which was not a catalog option for the Capitol outfit. The twin strainer was the most high end snare WFL offered in 1941. I would just expect to see sparkle inlay hoops on my set. It also looks like the bass drum heads and hoops have never been off the drum. Would be kind of cool to have a floor tom. I would have to seriously look through my archives, but I have a saved photo of a random drummer in the 40's playing a set of these in a Gene Krupa set up with TWO floor toms. I wonder where the heck that set is now?
