They still pop up around me occasionally. I buy every one I can that’s $100 or less. They sell for $150-$200 all the time. Not my cup o tea but I like flipping them.

I got a very decent one today for 100. Offered 80 and seller held firm. Good stand and one stick and a couple method books. The last one I bought I fear may be slightly out of round. This one today, was close to perfect. Great drums.

Bumping the thread.

3/7/21 was the last post.

What's the market like now? I've got a lead on one for $175.
Comes with a case, but it is the newer soft case. Not the UFO.

The most I've paid for any Acro is my 64'. Got it for $125.00 CDN. It's in great shape (even the p83 is still working great), and also came with a spare pair of hoops. I think I've had about 10 Acro's over the years - 60's through 80's, and the average I've spent was $80, cheapest being $20. My favourite is the 60's era, thus why I kept my 64'. Fun drum, but my 70's Premier 2000 COA still kills it (if we were to compare vintage, 8 lug, aluminum snares).

Even the Standards (metal ones) are getting north of $150.

Got mine in 2013 for $79.99.
But the Pawn Shop score days are quickly coming to an end. Too many online resources for values and a quick flip.

I bought a few for prices like that in the early 2000's. I remember $75 being the price I paid. Sold them to friends for about the same. I've had a few Slingerland Krupa's and have always preferred an acro to them. Just great all around consistent drums.

For $200 an acro is still a great deal.

I never ever would have thought that. I bought so many over the years and probably never paid more than $75.00. I realize those days are long gone but I don't think I could ever bring myself to pay over $100 for one. I worked in a music store for a short time in the late 90's and I remember a shipment of the blacros coming in. The UPS truck was loaded with them and there was probably close to 100 of them in the store inventory. I can still picture seeing all of those boxes piled up in the downstairs stock area.

This. Around a hundred is the most I’d pay.

They are great sounding snares for sure but they made millions of them. If I could go back in time, I would buy all those ones I saw for $50 and under. I used to see so many I got sick of them. Lol

A bought a Blacrolite a few years back from a pawn shop at $160. I sold it to a friend two years back for $160. Yesterday he reached out, he was selling it and wanted to give me first refusal. So I bought it back... for the same $160 ;) . Not sure what I'll do with it, but it's back home.

You guys saying you wouldn’t pay more than $100 are welcome to that position, but the day will come when they don’t show up for that price. I haven’t seen one in my area for that in the past couple of years, and most are 200+. Cheapest blacro on Reverb the other day was $250 and it looked rough.
