I grew up on an eastern Canada island, close from Cape Breton lots of traditional/celtic flavored music around. Pretty much anyone and their brother play fiddle. My dad had a celtic band that toured abroad a lot. I've always wanted to play drums but for years I only had a guitar, so instead, I strummed a lot of syncopated rythms "borrowed" from the Celtic bands I was exposed to.
For St-Paddy's day, I leave here a tune by Irish band Solas, their ex guitar player John Doyle is the absolute rythm master when it comes to celtic guitar strumming. I thought a bunch of drummers might appreciate how he drives the tune.
And happy St-Patrick's to my friends of Irish descent.
