What have been the gear that have never failed you over the years?

For me, it's my Tama Silverstar bought in 2015 and my Tama Roadpro hi-ha stand that I bought in 2009, almost every gig I made with my own kit, those 2 has been there and never disappointed me.

Yamaha Power Tour Custom (8000) bought brand new in 1986, and still going strong after 100's of gigs, and countless hours of playing.

While I have swapped out drums and snares and pedals and stands, It occurs to me that my two crash cymbals have endured a decade and several different bands and studios. I have an 18 inch Paiste Giant beat and a 20 inch 2002. They have covered it all perfectly, and I have never even considered playing something else in that time.

Some years back I put together a shell bank from orphaned 80's Tama Sup's. I have since used them for everything. I love them and they always work for what I'm doing.

I'm an admitted cymbal junkie and have WAY more than I could ever reasonably use in this lifetime, but my current set of old A's have been getting the call recently and perform incredibly well for anything I throw at them.

My 1987 Tama Superstar. Gigged it for 35 years, but now I use my Starclassic Maple live. My 13x6.5 Dunnett Ti is my go-to snare since around 2004. Even laymen (and a female singer!) have commented on how good it sounds.

My 16” Slingerland 1962 floor tom.

Bass drums, cymbals and snare drums get swapped out all the time. But this drum always fits right in.

And my DW5000 nylon strap pedal I haven’t changed out or hardly even adjusted in 30 years. It’s just right.

Similar story - The only constants for the last 50 years are my A Zildjian 16" Thin and Medium-Thin crashes!!

My late 90's Exports I've had since about 2001 and my '68 Acro I've had since about 2003. I've refinished the Exports three times now just for different looks, but they tune up well and I don't worry too much about them getting damaged.
We are weirdly similar in our gear!

Here, my late 80s Exports my Dad bought me for high-school graduation in 1987, and the Keystone Acrolite he bought himself in 1968. He bought it to practice his concert band and marching music.

'59 Slingerlands - 20, 12, 14 - these drums pretty much do all the gigs with me. For my snare drum, I'd say the N&C 5x14 SS Maple was the main workhorse for many years. I use a few others these days, including a late 60s LM400 that is very much like the N&C in terms of versatility.
