What have been the gear that have never failed you over the years?

For me, it's my Tama Silverstar bought in 2015 and my Tama Roadpro hi-ha stand that I bought in 2009, almost every gig I made with my own kit, those 2 has been there and never disappointed me.
The only piece I’ve been using since I started drumming 40 years ago is a pretty cheap Pearl hi-hat stand. I tried some other high-end newer ones but always quickly went back to this one piece of hardware that began feeling like an extension of my left foot decades ago.

This one for the studio (too cumbersome to gig with for me):

And this one is becoming it:

That's easy, any of my Yamaha kits except the Rydeen, I never gigged with that kit. I acquired very good service from my Stage Custom, YD7000, YD9000 kits.

I have bought and sold a LOT of drum sets and snare drums and cymbals over the last twenty years or so , and I get infatuations for certain brands , models etc , but I always come back to two drum brands when all is said and done and that is Gretsch and Ludwig . I have been fortunate to have ordered what has become my all time favourite drum set (Gretsch ) in my favourite finish and it pairs beautifully with my favourite snare drum (Ludwig Engraved Black Beauty). This is my Go To combination for anything I might find myself playing .

For the detail conscious we are talking about a Gretsch USA Custom kit 20/12/14 in satin Caribbean Twilight finish - no suspension bands or RIMS type mounts . Tom mounts on the Toms and bass , cymbal arm in the bass . Harkening back to what my first kit was like .

Ludwig 5 x 14 Engraved (by John Aldridge) Black Beauty - John also provided all the brass lugs , tension rods and strainer and hoops .

That is hands down the most beautiful snare drum I’ve ever seen. Congratulations!

1980 Ludwig 6 ply maple set with larger sizes. It's in my studio. Many have used it at practice, and many have recorded with it.

Over the years I have had many kits, cymbals, and snares but...Still prefer my 1980 Yamaha Recording series drums 10, 12, 14, 20. My go to snares are a 1970's Ludwig bronze 5" w/ imperial lugs, a 1970 Rogers Dynasonic 5" COB, 1985 Radio King gene Krupa 6.5. Full set of K's and yamaha hardware..I also like a DW 5000, Tama Speed Cobra, and Rogers Swivomatic pedals.

I've been through a couple dozen cymbals and 4 drum sets over the years, but the constant has been my Ludwig 1400 flat base cymbal stands, and my early 60's Premier hihat and 250 pedal. Pretty much bulletproof, and maybe it's because I have thousands of hours with them, but they always feel perfect under my feet. They are also way lighter to haul around than the stuff of the last 50 years.

Because I only had one snare for years, it has been my Brady 12 x 8 Sheoak block snare. Only recently did I get a another snare - a Canopus 14 steel shell - which is an alternative for bigger outdoor gigs.

I guess my hardcases. Bought them 28 years ago, beat the crap out of them, used them to carry all my drums, some of them are not with me anymore and I have a strong belief that I will go to the grave before them…they’re that good!

My first snare/workhorse is a 1968 slingerland cob 5x14 sound king with a zoomatic throw and extended butt plate has never let me down through thousands of hours of all kinds of playing. With minor adjustments it works for just about everything. When I was a kid(long time ago) I used to try to sell it so I could get something flashier. In the 70s and 80s noone wanted to hear about slingerland. Haha. So glad no one wanted it. Never had a single issue with the zoomatic throw. Easy to set or adjust sensitivity, even while playing. Never slips on me. Tone of the drum is great with any number of head combinations. Snare bed is deeper on butt plate side. Not sure how that factors in.

1965 red satin flame Slingerland: 8x12, 14x14, 16x16, 14x22 with 6.5x14 brass snare that I played exclusively for three decades. Like a comfortable old shoe; the set I would leave at the theater when doing a show. Still have it. It was the kit I used a few years back with the band Black Lodge because the red satin flame suggested the red velvet curtains in the black lodge. (Twin Peaks)

Wow, where to start?
Kit = My Sonor Ascents that I bought new in 2009, and have played EVERY gig since. Over 1000 gigs at this point, with nary an issue.
Cymbals = My Paiste 2002s. I kick the mess out of them and have only had to replace the top hat of my SE - they are durable
My Trick pedals have endured all gigs, my DW 5000 HH pedal has been dropped, tossed, kicked and never failed, impressive stuff as I know how hard I am on my gear.
