I notice some cymbals I’ve had my eyes on don’t come up often on the used Market, and one guy at a drum shop said gear is sold because the person selling it doesn’t like it - hence the reasoning of buying new ;).

what cymbals do you own that you’d never part with?

mine are an 18” ZILDJIAN PADLR an 14” hollow logo new beats.

Never say never but ...

22" New Stamp K - very thin. Bought off the shelf in a drum shop in 1989. Best. Cymbal. Ever.

Set of Matt Nolans (22" medium ride, 20" thin ride, 19" paperthin crash)

15" 60's A Zildjian medium thin crash. This has been my untouchable essential cymbal for 40 years.

I used to think that my 20" 602 ride was, but I sold it after getting two others and then a light Twenty became my #1 ride.

My thin 14" 602 hats would qualify. I've had a half dozen others but always end up coming back to these; would never sell them.

My Kashian's. Pretty distinct sounding cymbals. I see the prices are going up as well.

20" ride
18" crash/ride (rivets)
16" crash
20" china sizzle
18" china sizzle
14" high hats

I might try and add a 22" ride and 15" hats someday and then I'll have them all.

I have two sets of Paiste 602 Joe Morello sets. First set bought in the late '60s and the second in the '70s. Both sets have different 'personalities'. Named them after my sisters, Lucy and Marti. Those cymbals go with me in my casket!

15“ 2002 SE Hat’s
18“ 2002 Crash

but might sell my 20“ 2002 Heavy Ride as it is too tiny.

18" Sabian HH thin crash
16" Sabian HH dark crash
18" Sabian HH prototype crash
21" Sabian HH prototype ride
20" Sabian HH medium-heavy ride
14" 60s/70s combo A Zildjian hats
12" Sabian SR2 (looks like HHX) thin

That's more keepers than the ones I would part with--I only have like 5 other cymbals.
I like what I got.

I love that you named them.

21", 22", 24" Paiste pre-serial 602 "MEDIUM" - especially the 24.
22" 1960s A Zildjian
22" Sound Creation Dark Ride
20" Paiste Sig Dark Dry (prototype)
two 18" early Sabian HH crashes - extraordinary orchestral suspended cymbals
19" orchestral pair, A Zildjians modified by Mike Skiba

...and last but not least, my 14" '70s New Beats - partly because they are phenomenal cymbals, partly because they were a Christmas present from my parents.

Same here, with my 24" 602. To accommodate it, I'm going to have a casket made with a big round section in the middle, like the trunk of a Lincoln Continental.
