Haven’t played a gig in a couple of years because, you know...

Simplified back to the one rig way before that.

16” Lauritsen ‘dark matter skim Lathed’ hats 1009/1224g
20” old A ~1850g
22” old A ~2500g

These days I'm mostly doing straight up blues gigs so I'm keeping it simple:
14" Sabian HHX Stage Hats
18" Sabian HHX Studio Crash
20" 60's Zildjian A Ride (very crashable)

Haven't played a gig since last April. But my standard set up is (L to R):

14" older (90's) K over 14" A quick beat top
19" Soultone old school patina crash ride
20" Bosphorus traditional ride 2700g
18" Dream vintage Bliss crash ride.

I may swap out the ride for a 20" K Con medium depending on venue.

For jazz gigs, 15" Kerope hat's, 21" Agop Mel Lewis or 20" K Con Light, and 22 Agop SE Jazz or 22 SE TW.

For now (all Zildjian)
14” 70’s New Beats
17” K thin Dark Crash
18” old A Crash Ride (50’s or 60’s)
21” K Sweet Ride
Sometimes 16” K Custom Session Crash instead of the 17 above.

Thinking of picking up more old A’s again to replace the K’s again. (I go back and forth with this)

None....if I got a call from Peter Gabriel......

Without getting into specifics....it's easier for me to decide which cymbals or cymbal sets not to bring along.
Otherwise my old touring cymbal set that until recently lived at a rehearsal space in the city....hadn't seen them in over a year and finally went into town to get them as I can't see that band touring anytime soon....
All A's........20" ride, 16" and 18" crashes, 14" hats. These could cover pretty well anything and often did especially at festivals if I partook in "hat bands".

My most common setups when I was gigging...

With my 4 pc Ludwigs-

15" Paiste 2002 Sound Edge Hi Hats
18" Paiste Sig Full Crash
19" Paiste Sig Full Crash
20" A. Zildjian Ping Ride

With my 5-6 pc Pearls-
15" Paiste 2002 Sound Edge Hi Hats
17" Paiste 2002 Crash
19" Paiste 2002 Crash
10" Paiste Sig Splash
19" Paiste Sig Full Crash
20" Paiste Dimensions Power Bell Ride
20" Paiste 2002 Medium
18" Paiste Sig Heavy China

I've since acquired some additional cymbals including a 22" Paiste 2002 Ride, which would probably be my ride for either setup.

I change it up, but it’s primarily new Ks, old As, old Ks and combinations of those.

Jazz setup, Vintage 24 A. Spizz 22. Old A 15s or 16s. Zildjian K con light.

My church gigs, it varies…
22 K Con Renn, 20 K Con MTL. Crash hats. Other rides I use are K Light, K Dark Med, K Heavy.

Sometimes a swish or china in there, or another crash. Mostly K family crashes, but also a 16” CIE.

About to make some pretty big changes after playing basically the same set up for years. This will be the new rig:

Left to Right
16" Dark Energy Crash over Rude Crash/Ride
19" Signature Prototype Thin Crash
24" Giant Beat
22" 2002 Crash

My more mellow set up:
14" Artisan Hi Hats
18" Artisan Crash
21" HHX Legacy Ride or 22" HHX Complex Thin Ride
20" Artisan Crash

After buying/selling/trading a LOT of cymbals over the past few years, I've narrowed down to 2 sets, one bright and one dark. I have been using them interchangeably, it really just depends on how I feel and which bag I grab when heading out the door. If I had to choose just one set, it would be the 2002s, they can do anything when played accordingly.

2002 Red Labels
21" ride
20" thin crash
19" thin crash
18" thin crash
14" medium hats (looking to change these out)

Masters
21" medium ride
18' dark crash
17" dark crash
16" dark crash
15" dark hats

I'm currently gathering what I need to do a smaller set of 2002s, planning on 16" and 17" thin crashes to go with my 20" ride and the 14" medium hats.

Not many gigs these days due to covid but quite a few sessions. My set-up can vary but the most used set-up I’ve used lately is Meinl Byzance:

15” BFR hats
18” BFR crash w/one rivet (sometimes replaced by a Jazz series thin crash)
21” Transition ride
20” BFR ride w/two rivets

All pre-serial 602s unless otherwise noted:

14" hi-hats
18"
10" splash
20" Sound Creation New Dimension Medium Dark Ride
16" Thin
18" Seven Sound Set 4 flat

I've only had the Sound Creation ride for about a week, but I think it already has gained the edge over my previous first choice of a "do it all" ride, a 21" pre-serial 602 Medium.
