Rondo Music, on rt.22 in Union, NJ. Back in the day was the only place close to me that had a nice selection out on display. City Music Center in Kenilworth sold a lot of Ludwig products but it was all boxed up in the warehouse not a place to walk around in, they catered to the school rental business.

The Music Centre in Vineland NJ. Still got my Acrolite and a few cymbals I bought there. Ed King taught guitar there for several years after leaving Skynyrd, as well as working behind the counter. Great guy and awesome memories.

Not sure of the name, but in the middle of Oxford, UK, was a music and record shop with listening booths for any record you wanted to hear, totally free. This was the 1960's.....

Ron Willochell's Discount Music in Greensburg, PA.

My uncle used to teach guitar there (he was Paul Gilbert's first teacher!) and the drum department was run by Dave Marion, who was the drummer in Airborne. Their lead singer is Jeff Jimerson, who sings the national anthem at Penguins games :D

They had a massive white double-bass Tama kit on a Famicon rack right out front in the drum department. Bought all of my first gear there, including a set of rototoms (long since broken down into "Spoxe" that I used on my kit and at various drumlines I taught at), a Pearl FFX piccolo snare (still have it), and some Sabian B8 Pro and Zildjian Scimitar Bronze cymbals (still have the splash and china, but somehow lost a shockingly nice 18" Dark Crash). (I was given a complete set of '66 Club Dates + era-appropriate hardware and 70s As by my great uncle when he couldn't play them anymore, so all of my early purchases were the weird add-ons that a 13-year-old kid in the 90s would think were cool hahaha) :)
