What would be your chosen set of "same cymbal brand & line"?

I've played 100% Zildjian since 1968; currently a mix of A's and K's. If I were limited to only one line I think the A series could (with careful selection) cover any musical base that I would ever encounter. There's more breadth and depth in the A series than any other single series, Zildjian or otherwise.

Interesting question. If forced to pick one series only, A Zildjian 1st, Paiste Formula 602 2nd. IMO both series offer great versatility.
Have played a few Sabian and other brands on other people's kits, but not enough to develop any familiarity with them.
Never had a set of just one series though. These days it's always mainly A's with K hats. 10-15 years ago was the other way round, but never had a K set up which `blended' well together - possibly not an issue for many, but always grated on my ears, particularly listening back to recordings. Found A's live together more harmoniously.
Recently blew my tax return on a set of Paiste (hopefully they're on a ship somewhere heading south), a mix of giant beat, signature, 602 and a 2002 china. Very excited.

I've been a big fan of what meinl has been putting out. I like the trashier sound of the byzance line and I really like the look and sound of the dark classics custom line. But I'd have a really hard time patting with my vintage zildjian A 20" ride. I've had and exclusively played that ride for 20 years now.

I don't know...I guess I would say Zildjian Constantinoples. I've never had the opportunity to play old K's, and it doesn't look like I'll ever be in the tax bracket to justify spending that kind of money on an old cymbal. So, I stick with my "modest" modern Zildjians.

You ever take it to a jazz gig?
There's a Not a freaking thing in the world that would hold me back from doing that. It's on rotation for it's 1st gig next,
I've had it for about 5 months. Last gig March the K Dark Medium went St Pats Day (remember then?

Man I've listened to tons of files of practically everything out there in mainstream brands. My ears really love the sound of K Custom Dark cymbals! So I noticed someone here yesterday got a deal on something else at drummingdeals.com. I really had never visited that site. Low and behold I went in today and they had an "available till stock runs out" deal on a brand new 17" K Custom dark crash. What did I do? I bought it! I looked everywhere and the cymbal is $315. I picked it up for $179, Damn!!! I got the last one! Couldn't pass it up at that price! This will be my intro into Zildjian K's. I'll sell some of my extras and the from the proceeds probably buy a cymbal pack which brings a 16" & 18" crash, 20" ride & 14" hats. So this 17" will fit perfectly. That will be a nice little K custom setup to add to the cymbal rotation.
