This is one of the cheaper & smaller things in drumming but incredibly important. Just like we have quality tools for our homes and cars, we also have them for our drums. I like trying out different types and styles. Some hurt my hands (pointy corners) and they get thrown in a drawer and the ones that are awesome get used all the time. I'm always on the lookout for the perfect drum key & drum tool. What are your favorites?

I guess this drum key .... revolving handle spin action is great for head changes .....doesn't have any branding on it .....

This is what I use unless putting on a new head. Easier to reach under and get to the bottom hoops without moving the drum. Easier to get to the two front bottom bass drum rods.

For feel: large surface, round, ergonomic shape: Mapex MP-KZWA059
For accuracy, I like asymmetric ones like the L-shaped Sonor ones with two ends because you never mistake a half turn for a full turn...:D

Tama makes a great multi tool that has been a Godsend on gigs a few times for me.

I use standard keys, the soft edge ones. Might pick up one of the offset handled ones when I get around to it.

I do keep a tiny wrench nearby for tuning the reso head on those hard to get corners so I don't have to pull the drum off.

I finally found an interesting tool to loosen over tightened wing nuts instead of using the ole "2 stick sandwich method" :

Now THAT’s a specialty item! I share a studio with a dude who regularly accesses his inner gorilla when tightening stands.
I think the Tama multi tool NobleCooleyNut suggested has that built in to the handle As well.
Wonderful stuff on this thread, and just what I needed: more tools.
