How timely. I havn't bought anything since May. So while killing time between sales appointments I stopped at a GC and grabbed a Vater 12" dia. double sided practice pad. Nice pad.

I snagged a nifty MIJ faux Rogers (Frogers?) snare complete with tall boy hoops. The shell is Luan but a substantial 4 plies plus rerings. The edges are very well done and the strainer is really solid for an MIJ so maybe it was a Sakae product. It sounds surprisingly awesome!

Summit Drums out of Ohio are building me a Solid One Ply Curly Maple Kit that will be just stunning. It will be a large drumset with a couple matching snare drums. The entire kit is built from the same tree, coming out of two large slabs processed by the Amish in Ohio. The builder at Summit, Gary Posey, is just a wonderful man to deal with and I can't say enough great things about him and his great talents. He's building me: (2) 15x22 bass drums, 7x10,8x12,9x13 rack toms, 14x14 & 16x16 Floor toms, 14x20 Gong Bass Drum, 6.5x14 & 8x14 Matching Snare drums. All with COB tube lugs (except the Gong Bass Drum will have actual Tama Hardware). Here are a few pictures of the 14x14 floor tom. They are going to be stunning!

That's a one spicy meatball. Solid seamless shells . Two bass drums and two snares!...all from the same tree?!... and processed by the Amish??! Someone's be hanging out with John Good.
Seriously though, that's amazing. A few questions:
Shell thickness, edges and why not get bass drums in 22 and 24 instead of two 22's?
Congrats for keep one independent drum company in business.
