In 2008 I would have been using a cheap 14×5" chrome over steel Yamaha student snare.

These days my main snare is this late '70s chrome over brass Pearl Jupiter in 14×6.5". I LOVE this thing!!!

Oriollo Mangana (manganese steel) 6.5x14.

No way that would have been my snare in 2008.

5.5 x 14 Tama Artwood. Got it very cheap used, but with diecast hoops, it sounds great.

This baby, I got it a few weeks ago and it instantly became my #1.

The gigs I had that same day confirmed this.

This 12x7 Jarrah Bloc is its predecessor, which was my main snare for a few years.

I still have it though. In doubt if I should sell or stock it.

I sold my 65 Supraphonic last week because the DW outplayed it on every field.

In 2008 I didn't own half of the snares I have now! I was using a 60s Supra 5x14, then got a 60s Slingerland solid maple that's still my favorite for jazz today. Didn't feel the need to get another wood drum, but got a few more metal drums since.
