Any recommendation for reso heads? I might buy some more VA batter heads and get some reso heads while my 15% off coupon for Musicians Friend is good (ends tonight I think)
I generally use clear Ambassadors as resos for everything. Unless I’m going for a very specific vibe, it’s generally those. On my current kits, I’m using:

Ludwig Classic Oak - clear Emperors over clear Ambassadors
Sonor Phonic - coated vintage Ambassadors over clear Ambassadors
Gretsch Renown #1 - white suede Emperors over clear Ambassadors
Gretsch Renown #2 - clear CS black dot over clear Ambassadors
Sonor Player - clear Pinstripes over clear Ambassadors
Ludwig Club Date - Skyntone Diplomat over Skyntone Diplomat

Guys two more questions then I think I’m done buying stuff for a while:

1) What’s a warm, articulate hi hat I should consider looking at? Something smooth, no bright cutting. My one complaint with my Custom A hats are that they’re too bright and clangy. I want something that speaks clearly with soul and warmth.

I want Isaac Hayes, not Axl Rose.

2) I now have a 21” A Sweet Ride and my Ping Ride. Do you know if a Tama MCA53 can support the weight of either of these? Looking to mount one of the cymbals off my existing stands using this if possible.

Tama MCA53

The 21" A Sweet Ride is a great cymbal - love mine.

I have a couple of pairs of K hats - 13" Dark and 14" Session Custom. I may have another, but can't recall. The Session Customs are great, but they are brighter. It sounds like you may be looking for Dark or Sweet hats.

I just picked up used 19" and 16" K Sweet Crash cymbals and am looking to get some Sweet hihats and a ride to complete that setup.
