Hats, crash, ride, splash, etc.
Only one set that has worked for you for pretty much anything. What are the cymbals in the set, size etc.
OR if you could pick one set from the library of the cymbals you have.
For me, my Armands work well, maybe just missing a good dry pingy ride.

Primary Cymbals all gigs and all styles of music I perform or attempt to perform:
14" A New Beat Hats
8" A Splash
16" A Medium Thin Crash
18" A Medium Thin Crash

Ride Cymbals I use to fit the style of music I'm attempting to perform:
21" A Custom 20th Anniversary Ride
21" Avedis Ride
21" K Sweet Ride
21" K custom Special Dry Ride

I alternate the following effect cymbals which I adore equally:
22" A Swish Knocker
19" NP Paragon China

That is my complete arsenal. I still desire one more ride cymbal to add to my collection. Interested in the 21" A Rock Ride to give me a little more ping in a rock setting. I do realize that size has been discontinued by Zildjian.

From 1983 to 2018 I was happy with a simple set of 60's and 70's A's......and one single EAK 20".

New Beat 14's in lighter weights, 16,18,20 in medium thin weights. And a beefy but very pleasant 22 heavy (3400 gm).
I still have all the A's today.....mainly for rock and pop. But, I got a bad case of G.A.S. in 2018 and now have about 6 sets of cymbals......oops.

My primary cymbals are pretty much the same as yours, just Armands instead of regular As.

From my very first drumset in 1965 all the way through today I have always tinkered with my cymbal setup. During those 57 years I don't think it ever went more than one year without my changing up something.

My current (all-Zildjian) cymbal setup has remained the same for the past 18 or so months (although I do swap between 3 different rides):
  • 15" K Sweet Hats (2021)
  • 12" A Splash (1993)
  • 16" A Thin Crash (2016)
  • 17" A Thin Crash (2020)
  • 18" A Thin Crash (2021)
  • Two 18" A Medium-Thin Crashes (2021)
  • 17" K China Boy (1987)
  • 22" A Swish Knocker (1995)
  • 22" K Ride (2015) or 22" K Heavy Ride (1988) or 20" A Take Five Reissue Ride (2022)

I have only 1 set of K Constantinoples. I have quite a few and like to mix and match them depending on my needs, but never use them all at once.
  • 14" hi hats
  • 18" crash
  • 20" medium thin low
  • 20" high bell thin high with 3 rivets
  • 20" SLP bounce over hammered
  • 22" bounce
  • 22" renaissance
  • 22" light with 4 rivets

I've had the same set of cymbals for decades! It's the cymbal set seen in my avatar!

20" Sabian AA Medium Ride
17" Zildjian A Paper Thin Crash
16" Zildjian A Thin Crash - My original crash from 1969-70
14" Zildjian New Beat hats - My original hats from 1969-70

I love these cymbals! However, in all honesty, the 20" ride is on the heavy side and I'd love to have it lathed down a bit to match the rest of the "family"

Just attached pictures of my Headliner with my cymbals!

Not entirely just one set but pretty close…

Sabian AA regular 14 hats
Sabian AA 16 thin crash
Sabian SR2 21 ride that used to be an HHX of some sort
Sabian 20 Studio ride
Diril 20 Trad Ping ride that I only use as a big crash

Plus…

Tyrko NS 12 15 hats from the 60s

Well, I only have one set but I just got back on a throne about a year ago. Just a Paiste 2002 box set…14” hats, 18” & 20” crashes, 22” ride.

(Also have a Zildjian Sweet Ride that I picked up from a fellow DFO member shortly after I signed on the forum. Great cymbal that gets swapped into the rotation regularly.)

I own two "sets", but they're similar enough that I wouldn't hesitate to use either set for any given gig. I like to rotate them on and off, but if I had to pick, it'd be the Giant Beats. Although the Zildjians were much cheaper.

Vintage Zildjian A:
60s 20" ride
60s 18" crash-ride
14" thin crash over 70s New Beat top OR 70s New Beat top and bottom (occasionally)

Paiste Giant Beat:
24" multi
20" multi (w/ sizzle chain)
18" multi
15" hats

These are not my only set , but they would be the last cymbals I would ever sell . I have had a LOT of cymbals over the past 20 years . Paiste is my preferred brand and this particular setup ticks off a lot of the boxes for me . The setup left to right :
15” Paiste 602 Modern Essentials hats
18” Paiste Traditional Thin crash
22” Paiste Traditional Light ride
20” Paiste Masters Dark Crash ride
