Who said "I created heavy metal drumming" and "John Bonham got it from me"?

Although they both were natural maple Ludwigs, Mitch's 1-up/2-down 13/16/16/22 was pretty standard fare, whereas Carmine's double-bass 15/20/26/26 was a very different animal. I think that was the first time I'd ever seen anyone using a 26" bass drum, let alone two!

Carmine can definitely play. No doubt about it. I've often thought he tries too hard to promote himself. He has a great career and he's a fantastic drummer.

When I interviewed Carmine circa 1977 he explained where his drumming style came from. Here's the link.
