Full honest disclosure...I got $300 and not feeling great about it. I never have to ask about pay because my bandleader always takes care of me. but this time I'm feeling a little off put, if you know what I'm getting at.

Last year we made $400 each and the year before I think it was $500. When I was working in NY it was always$750 or better.

So, I'm wondering if this is a sign of the times or did I just get a raw deal this year (kinda like the whole year was in general)?

....your opinions....

Played a small club which meant a small crowd. It was a great time though. Pretty much just the regulars there. I play with three or four different bands there so everyone knows me. I knew it would be low pay but was still worth it

My New Year’s Eve gig was cancelled, along with a lot of other players.

I understand getting less is no fun, but let’s remember the circumstances. We are still in the middle of a Pandemic, places such as bars, restaurants, and entertainment type venues have suffered badly throughout this. Many long time places have closed up completely. I see “we are hiring, or help wanted “ signs at nearly all the places I used to play frequently. These people are struggling to stay open. Inflation is happening without a lot of companies giving raises, so people who do private functions I don’t think have as much expendable income.

I’m just happy to play when I can and grateful when the pay is there.

200$ started at 8-12 it was rough. Our bass player had a heart attack a couple weeks ago and had a defib put in mon didn’t tell us he couldn’t play till Tuesday so we had a fill in who just practiced with us wed and thurs so it was a little rough and the place was tiny but I had fun. Happy New Years.

Quick edit I made more two years for New Year’s Eve was averaging 400 but the past two years it dropped to 200 per person. I can’t complain it’s better then sitting home making no money. And it’s a blessing to even be considered good enough for a place to pay me to play drums.

Haven't played a NYE gig in a couple of years. Adjusting my baseline for events in general though-- weddings, corporate-- $500, plus leader fee for myself. $250 for the first hour. For things I book myself, telling my agent the same thing. They have the money, and expect to spend it-- and they are spending it, on all the other services-- people are just afraid of asking too much and losing the gig.

Florida has been operating in a post pandemic mode for most of the year. This crowd was obviously mostly snowbirds and covid refugees...they wanted to party but were awkward about it. It was weird to watch adults acting like teenagers.

This was the first NYE I was supposed to play in 25 years. I was supposed to personally net $600-$700 for a hour set, but Covid canceled it.

5:30 to 9 PM. Played backline kit consisting of DW shells/hardware and Zildjian pies. $240.00 after taxes.

Had several bar owners try to book us. LOL.
