Would a twisted badge on a brand new tom bother you?

Now if his request for another drum is granted/ you with me?/ the issue of mis/match/ Black Oyster/ comes into play again.
It may be that ancient ( pre-mao) Chinese riddle

"Does man look at Oyster and not see Badge or does my badge look perfect in this mis matched Black Oyster"
So he'll have to hit two home runs in one inning

I didn't request any exchange. I'm keeping the drum no matter what. I'm not gonna wait for another one over this issue and not gonna risk the possible wrap mismatch on a replacement. It's got the slightly crooked badge and it will stay that way unless I were to someday get it fixed which I probably will never do. I asked them for a possible partial credit (maybe $50 or so as mentioned here by someone) and I'd be happy with that. I'm waiting on Ludwig's response which God knows when it will be. Either way, if they just give the option of exchanging vs. a partial credit, it will stay as is. It's got warranty so they might request that. Like I said though, sending it back, no way! It's more of a hassle sending it back. I wrote them and we'll see what they say. Regardless of the end result, I certainly won't lose sleep over it. It is what it is and other than the crooked badge, it's perfect.

I never thought to ask, once it's mounted, is the badge even visible? Can you please post a pic of the whole 9 piece kit? TRANSLATE: Share the drum porn, dude!

If they did that for a crooked badge then people would start twisting their badges and claiming it came that way in order to get a discount.

7 pages over a slightly twisted badge. I would hate to work for a drum company with the sky high expecations some people have.

I would try to find a phone number for the factory. Then you could talk to the builder and ask how to proceed. If they tell you it is held by the grommet only, they may have a method to fix it. Otherwise they might offer to fix it if you send it back to them, by re-attaching it. That being said, yes it might bother me. Not sure. It might not bother me. Either way, it's not my drum it is your drum so your reaction to your drum is the most important thing. I understand your hesitance to use anything that could bugger your wrap up though.

On a "side" note, I would also say that it should not be used as an excuse not to play drums and become a better drummer and musician. This is cosmetic. It is undetectable at a distance. Nice looking drum! Wondering what the whole set looks like?

It will be pointing forward!
I'll post pics when I get everything put together again. I'm working on installing the tom rail on the bass drum.

Like I said, it's no big deal to me really. But I will say one thing, when you pay so much for 1 drum that's worth what some complete kits cost, yes you have the highest expectations. Your paying a premium for that expectation! And remember, this is a ordered drum that I had to wait for. It wasn't an off the shelf piece. I could have been the guy that just sends it back and demands perfection, but I'm not that guy. It will get played as is! About the 7 pages: I just posted to show and hear what people would do. Apparently there have been 7 pages of opinions (including the one you posted) I have no control over that!

I am a picky person when it comes to little stuff like that and I think a twisted badge would bother me but I wouldn’t call that twisted, I don’t see it in your picture..I think I’d be ok with that.
I decided to get one of the Take Five rides and the ride arrived and I noticed the “JIA” in “ZILDJIAN” hand stamped mark is missing, it didn’t stamp well. It bothered me a bit and it is still on my mind but it sounds good and I know that’s the mark MINE has ;)
Would you be ok with this on a brand new cymbal?

I still haven't hung it because I had to tear things down to install my tom mount. I'll have pics up soon. The thread I started when I bought it has some pics without the 13" tom.
Here you go:

I would see if Ludwig will straighten out the badge. If Ludwig will pay the shipping then the only cost to you is time and if you really are looking at this set as a lifetime set then not having the drum for a month while it gets fixed is a very small price to pay on your end. You will have a perfect set and your eyes won't be drawn to the crooked badge every time you walk in to the room for as long as you own it. Sending your drum back will make sure the wrap matches.

I don't know you personally but, with having followed a lot of your threads, I feel having a brand name, getting a good deal on the brand name, and how things "look" are very important to you. That's not a dig as that is probably representative of most folks , I just think it will bother having only accomplished 1 of those 3 things on this drum.

Listen guys, if they were to tell me right now that they can't do anything, I'm ok with that. I really am! I'm not that picky! And the idea of returning it to fix it with no cost to me, that would also be ok. And keeping the same drum with a minor credit for whatever amount, that's ok too. I'll wait and see what they come back with. I guess my question got more opinions than expected! I think it's best to just wait. I'll post the outcome whenever I hear anything.

Yea I wasn’t gonna send it back since this is a cymbal and the next one I get might not sound like this one. Tilted badge on a brand new drum is a different story ... but again we need to learn to be less picky about this little stuff.

This is common with alot of Ludwigs and has been an issue from as far back as the 70's. They tighten that eyelet so tight that it sometimes shifts the adhesive under the badge. Send it back, if you tamper with it heating it up or removing the eyelet and reinstalling (you need the tool for this) then you are on your own. I would not mess with it.

Because you paid for a Ludwig drum you deserve quality control to not pass this on to you or anyone else... btw my dad used to work at ludwig when they were in chicago and Bill Ludwig would have flipped
