Yamaha Multi12 - where do I put the gaff tape?

Been really digging in earnest lately since rearranging the whole music room. And I got some sounds I'm really digging. Except that snare has way too much ring. Obnoxious ring. I'm using the effects for a bit of reverb. I've been trying to figure out how to tame that sample and the only thing I can figure is either EQ or compressor, but I'm using the reverb on it.

Any suggestions?

Already tried that. Specifically WV027 Oaksnrlh/WV028Oahsnrrh has a wonderful body and a nasty ring. Neither decay nor release affects the ring. Cranking up the attack can kill the body leaving only the ring. Even Fc seems to affect only the body and still leaving the ring. It's almost like it's layered with a ring but it's not. It's coming from the sample. It's something most of you guys would love but as a child of the 70's I loathe. Just nothing in the module seems to affect it

That’s because it’s an external sample. Any file starting with WV (wave) is one of your samples. You can’t edit (decay) internal samples. Edit it on a computer and re load.

Didn't realize the distinction. Yeah there's a similar sample on built-in sounds (this is the Yamaha download kits and provides left/right samples for many kits)

It works but doesn't really help. Kills the snares before the ring. Going to have to edit the samples directly
