I can’t imagine being faced with that task But I know three things.

1. better not try and outdo him on snare rudiments

2. Forget about trying to overwhelm him with speed because that’s what he does to everyone else
3. Forget about cymbal and hi hat technique as well
Ed Shaughnessy on the Tonight Show drum battle with Rich tried to match the speed and flubbed up a couple times.
Krupa never tried to match the speed in their battles, but rather went with clever rhythms and phrases that didn’t require blazing speed.
I think I call in sick.

Throw my snare drum at his head, light his drums on fire, declare myself victor, and then hightail it out of there before he has a chance to use any of his judo moves on me.

"Fire!!!!"

Seriously, I'd just do my thing at my pace, which will make BR seem even faster.....
and would win me some sympathy with the lovely audience......plus I'm thinking about that bus ride home!

BR always played a whole bunch of "notes" for the most part.....so I would play just one "note" and that's it.
If ya don't get that ya don't get it.

Probably do my best Phil Rudd Back In Black impersonation, relentlessly playing the same slower tempo kick-snare-kick-snare beat from the first bar of drums (without the 'fill'/tag bit at the end) until he went insane, cracked the shits and stormed off.

I hit him right off the bat with a trick question
"hey Buddy. How many nickles in a lid?"
boom, me and the band are off running,

alternate. I pass him a note.
"I can play circles around you signed Shelly Manne"

boom I'm already into the first chorus..

Plan A: go full Keith Moon and bash at random on everything with my spookiest loco-eyes.

Plan B: Instant capitulation and beg for mercy.

Probably B tho....

In the middle of his solo, yell over and say, “hey Buddy, Lana Turner just came through the door and she says she wants to marry you!!!”
