I,like most, miss my cymbalholics.com fix. so here is a small attempt to connect to some of the stuff we had over there. so tell me what you got most recently cymbal wise....

I slipped up on a nice jewel recently. I bought a 60's avedis 24". seller mentioned that it was around 3400 grams. a little heavier than my dream cymbal but still thought I would give a try. I had just bought a new digital scale and had it ready for the arrival of the 24. when it arrived, I could tell right away it was thinner than that because ive had one 2800 and 3200. I was pleasantly pleased when it weighed in at 2976 grams. its a jewel. has a ton of different sounds as a ride cymbal. it crashes well and the bell is full and musical. I so wish that it had rivets though. I have really come to enjoy them on cymbals over they years...

has some beautiful dark green patina right at the bottom. I picture some old jazz cat clasping it there while laying down some nice patterns...

so....what did ya get lately???

Just received an incredible set of Byrne 14” Reverse Quarter Turk hihat cymbals at about 1100g each. The crisp, definitive, chup closure sound is my idea of absolutely perfect. Audible in loud music, satin soft in quiet brush ballads. Perfect, clear, darkish tone to the stick when partially apposed.
I’ve become a real Byrne cymbal fan.

Paiste PSTX 16” Cajon crash. Crashes nicely, doesn’t really have any of those weird metallic overtones that PSTX cymbals have sometimes. Doesn’t open up as easily when you strike it with your hands compared to the PSTX Flanger crash which I have but it does sound more like an actual crash cymbal and it’s better for riding with a stick. Ryan likey.

Picked up a great used 19" Zildjian A Thin Crash to match my other 19" Zildjian A Thin Crash...the newer one is on the left. Needs a good cleaning but sounds great!

Recently bought a K Sweet Pack and an A Custom pack, along with a 14” A Custom master sound hi hat

I now have 14” A Custom and Custom Mastersound hats, along with 15” K Sweet hats, to go along with my 30 year old 13” A Custom hats.

Zildjian K Istanbul Old Stamp type 2a - 18 in - 1200 gm. I like the sound. Unfortunately the bell hole was "widely" enlarged by a previous owner to get rid of whatever
mess was there. My orange foam "felt" is now a grommet for both protection and allowing good sustain and resonance. Quite playable as such. 8 well placed and drilled rivet holes.
Would like to know how this sounded decades ago.
