Zildjian K Custom Dry Ride - info please!

Greetings,

I picked this cymbal up today off of Craigslist. It’s a heavy ride and seems to fit in nicely with my 14” & 17” K Custom Dark Crashes, and 13” Custom Dark Hats.

There is no serial number on this one. The bottom has solid black Zildjian script. Would I be correct in guessing that this is a 1989 and machine hammered? I’m basing this upon info at: http://black.net.nz/avedis/avedis-by-years.html

Any additional info is appreciated. Thanks!

Probably Zildjian solid script with the "R" at the tail end of the "N."

Looks to me from the above photo there could be a serial number under "Made In USA." Look a little closer with a magnifier to see if there is even a single letter or number visible.
If no serial number, then the "R" at the bottom right leg of the K would place your cymbal around 1992-1993.

I remember those coming out around 1987. It was an unlathed variation of the K Custom Ride. Peter Erskine used one a lot for a few years - you can see him using one on his left side during the band tunes on his "Everything Is Timekeeping" instructional video. I suspect they were a response to Istanbul‘s Turk ride cymbals which Jack Dejohnette was using at the time (his Sabian signature cymbals came out in 1989.)

There is an “R” on the bottom side. With a magnifying glass I do detect a “C” under “Made in USA”

If there's a C, the it could 2003 (JC) or 2013 (AC). The letters lead the serial number sequence so they should be on the far left end under "MADE".
Serial numbers are 2 letters followed by 8 numbers. See link below.

I had one of these for several years, it was from 96. Great ride, bone dry, good solid bell. I added 3 rivets at one point but it didn’t do much, added a faint sizzle, my buddy has it now

So, I quite literally just got one of these from a fellow forum member. Showed up yesterday. Had a VERY hard time finding the serial number stamp, but with a flashlight and a lot of looking I found it. Dated from 2002. The script lettering was introduced in 1996. So there’s no chance of it being older than that.
It seems like either the patina obscures the numbers a lot, or the stamping of these isn’t very deep.
