I have the Warbird and the cherry bomb, I prefer the Cherry bomb, both are great snares, and the Brass Cat and Black Widow are great too. The Brass Cat being my favourite of the BP snares I own.
The Black Panther snares are exceptional. I have a Sledgehammer. Killer at every tuning with cut and projection for days. Until I heard the Tama Spotted Gum, which I bought, I thought the Cherry Bob was the best "off the shelf" wooden snare drum I had ever heard. It's a special drum.

I know the 13x3 has a bit of a raspy sound, but that can be cured with a 20 strand snare.
For some reason I've had a number of Pearl 13x3s and even an older Tama 14" picc, so I always defer to those (and then decide I'd rather have a deeper snare or even a 13x7 or something). Still deals to be had on the M1330, I think.

Sorry if my comments don't jive with your experience with different makes of snare drums. You asked about Ludwig Classic Maple snare drums, so I was just giving you the benefit of my experience with the LCM snare drum I own.

Oh I thought you meant the MPX. I didn't even know LCM came in a piccolo, but cool!

Blindly purchased a Sakae steel snare. OMG it's fantastic.
Was like my Tama Imperial steel drum but better.
Much louder than a Maple DW snare that came with my kit or SLP metal snare I was using.

The only downside is the rim click is slightly lower pitch than I am used too.
