Hi! I have an old thick plastic bag in which I carry a stick bag, metronome, set lists, charts, demo DVDs, maybe a roll of duct or painter's tape etc., but this bag has seen better days. Looking for suggestions on what to replace it with. A drum bag? Hard case? I'm open to ideas. It doesn't necessarily have to zip up or close; it just needs to contain all the things that a cymbal bag or hardware bag cannot.

Thanks in advance!

I use one of those 70's U-shaped Ludwig snare drum cases for my little submixer, cables, mics, and various other things. I think those cases are extremely handy for just about everything (except maybe holding a snare drum lol). It's hard shell, has a divider, easy to carry, and they can be bought cheap. Lots of cheap used Acrolites come with one, so there's that too.

Here's an example, though if you have the patience to find one locally it may be a good bit cheaper:

I love checking out the second hand stores for old suitcases. I have some cool old ones I fill up with stuff. I still keep an eye out for them when I go. I've given a few away...you can get them for a couple of bucks..

I don't know if it's big enough for a stick bag, but a small boat bag from Bass Pro Shops might work well for your uses. I use medium sized ones (their large) for tom and cymbal mounts, and a large one (without wheels) for my "every gig" items: throne, snare stand, and hihat stand. Looking at the chart, the small bag is 18x10x10, so a stick bag might fit. I like that they're waterproof and have a hard bottom.

I bought a small duffle bag that has 4 decent sized external pockets. It holds a 4 channel snake, extra 1/4" and XLR cables, power cord extensions, mic, in-ear amp, Leatherman, a fan, BD pedal, phone charger, extra felts/cymbal sleeves/snare cords, plus other various adapters.

I think it's unavailble now, but there are other bags that are similar. I'd also look at Home Depot or Lowes. A tool bag would be pretty heavy duty and there are so many size options I'm sure you could find one that suits your needs.

I grabbed an ammo bag at a local army navy store. $25 duffle bag type with a bunch of zipper pockets as well as a hard insert in the floor of the bag. Great gig bag overall for some much needed odd and ends. This is not the exact one but very similar.

Heck, any thrift store or Goodwill/SalvationArmy outlet will have what you're looking for....and probably several to choose from, for 5 bucks or less.

old hockey bags. I played hockey for 40+ years, have a pile of em in the house, so I just use em up.

I found a small roller bag at Goodwill for $10.00. It has a number of square dividers and outside pockets all around it and on top. After closer inspection I realized half of the bag; the dividers folded flat. WoW!! Perfect for my little personal Mackie powered monitor. The divided half holds some mic's., mic cords, speaker cords an ATLAS scissor lift folded. The outside pockets are holding monitor cords and AC adapter extensions. After loading that up with gear it's heavy, good thing it has wheels.

If you are needing a new pedal case, get a double pedal case and use the other side for other small stuff that you may need.

That's what I do. My double pedal case carries my single pedal, sometimes a backup Speed King, a bag of spare parts and tools, gaffers tape, shaker(s), set lists, IEM and Rolls unit. The Pearl case is nice because it has a divider. Or I use the Axis double pedal hard case when I'm on the road. The fewer bags/cases, the better, so I try to consolidate where possible.

What?! You're ruining a perfectly good drum set......(broken attachment removed)

I have 2 cases. 1 is a bag a 20" Duckworth tool bag. I can carry everything I need, percussion, parts, metro, iem, stick bag, water etc... I also have a smaller hardcase a heavy duty breifcase. It's a converted Fluke digital Oscope case. I carry cowbells woodblocks and other larger percussion. Trying to fit it all in 1 bag was cumbersome for me and I often only need 1 bag. All my drum cases are SKB so having a case that is not plastic stays on the stack better.
