I’m a happy little drummer all gig long.

I subbed on drums last night for a classic rock/blues band. The bar was fairly busy and had a happening vibe with plenty of applause during the first set, so that was good.

During the break a bunch of late thirty / early forty-ish year olds arrive. We start the second set and a couple of cuties from this group are up dancing right away. So, a few guys get up to dance with them and from then on and for the third set, the dance floor was packed. But bcause the dance floor got busy, we played more up tempo stuff from the bands list, I dumped the hot-rods for sticks and the whole thing took off and rocked out.

I just love drumming (or guitar playing) to an active dance floor with at least one hottie doing her thing… it makes it all worthwhile.

Surely I’m not alone.

There's nothing better than seeing people move to the music you are making.

The 'By Yourself Dance'(James Harmon,1985) usually starts things off.
Love to make them dance!

I get a kick out ot the drunk girls that like to look at themselves in a mirror while dancing up on the dance floor.

I'd rather play to a half empty room with 10-15 people dancing all night than a full room of people just sitting there.(does that make sense?)

Years back my pal took up with a band and I tagged along a couple times for fun. When they did a road gig, they always brought at least on pretty girl with them, specifically to get the dancing started. And it worked.

Yer'r not alone! Recently had that very same type of happy experience when subbing for my drumming son with his band--one song, tho--for a certain stunningly sexy looking brunette kept my heart rate and blood pressure higher than it should all with her dancing; a real "hootie" 'fer sure!... :drunken:

I have found a few times that I can loose my concentration while checking out the hotties on the floor.....dirty old man that I am,,,,, but I love it

We often play a place that has plenty of college age cuties with beer pong going on in the back....it's easy to loose concentration when a few of them hit the dance floor.....I have to remind myself that I also have a daughter in college.....ruins my fanatasies right quick....

I get that when I play in Ottawa with my son. Both him and my daughter are there in College so the bars he gigs at are pretty fun. I have no problem enjoying the view. Just because you are on a diet, it doesn't mean you can't look at the menu.

The feeling is great when your music gets a mosh pit going, or a few guys having a bit of beatdown, when you're in a heavy band. It's such an exhilarating feeling when you look out and see the carnage caused by your playing :D Our keyboard player often gets out and whips it up himself, it's truly a sight to behold. But then we play a nice, melodic song and see the few pretty girls dancing at the front, THAT'S what makes my gig :p

You mean you don't just focus on your drumming???

Having some good looking ladies dancing in front of you sure is a benefit of the job!

A packed dance floor is always a good thing, but over the years, I have noticed that most women and nearly all men are basically mediocre to lousy dancers.

Except for one women who has come to see The Kootz several times. I haven't seen her in a while. She's very attractive, in her mid forties, I'd say, with dark hair, olive skin, great clothes and jewelry...and she's the best dancer in a bar I think I have ever seen. Her moves are mesmerizing to say the least. Every time she comes, I cannot take my eyes off her.

I better stop writing this before my missus sees it!!!!

Love it.

Hell yeah cuties and dancing. Girls become their glowing best when they are having fun and letting go for pleasure's sake. Smilin' denim does stuff...for sure.

I'll say ... looks like she got you "mermerized" real good.

This is a great post to show the younger musicians of the group why its so important to play 'girl-oriented' music in most pubs. Even though it probably isnt what we want to be playing, if theres one constant in life, its that guys WILL go after just about any girl dancing on the floor and try to entice them with free drinks etc. You keep the girls dancing, the guys follow and the drink sales are way up = booking for you next week.

Of course, you have to then go home and have nightmares about having Love Shack and Dancing Queen on endless repeat, and sometimes the gig kinda feels like that, but hey - Youre out there playing and making people happy!

Ok...a typo. I fixed it.

My band plays a couple biker functions a year, and when the drinks start flowin', things just fall out (if you know what I mean). makes it real tough on us meager musician types!

Yea, nothing much beats getting the people up and dancing. It's really fun when they want to come up on stage and be a part of the action. No problem, just make a little room for them. what's best about that is that I'm sitting, and behind them, so the view is outstanding.

Yes...I am a pig! Sorry, Liz, Kat and all the other female members. My girlfriend knows this happens, and she's cool with it because she knows I have to stay put behind my kit.
