I saw Chuck in Wallingford, Ct, late 70's early 80's, can't quite remember. Great concert and James Bradley Jr was drumming. What a show! RIP Chuck!

I saw the "Feels So Good" band in Wallingford around that time as well, and a couple of years later saw the same band in Springfield, MA, but with Steve Gadd on drums instead of JBJ. The band sounded marvelous both times.

I'd pay good money to get my hands on Chuck's orchestral scores from the "Hollywood Bowl" concert. What a great composer and arranger he was.

I was a big Mangione fan back in the day. The band I was in played “Feela So Good” and the radio station I worked at played a lot of his music.I thrilled to see him and hang a bit with the band when he played St. Louis.

I was digging around for videos and found this performance from the Montreux Jazz Fest with a long-haired Steve Gadd and a “with hair” Tony Levin in Chuck’s group.

Had the 8 Track for Feels so Good in the 70s. Great stuff.

Also, was a fan of James Bradley Jr and his Slingerlands!
I couldn't have said it better. I was a huge fan of James Bradley Jr. AND his Slingerlands. What a great, tight, crisp sound and beautiful technique he had back then as a pretty young man. To me, he looked like a kid, not much older than me, playing a dream gig with Chuck Mangione. Years later, I met JB Jr. in LA in the summer of 1990 while he was playing in a band called Mary's Danish in a club. I was absolutely blown away that it was him and I talked to him a little bit. He was a HUGE influence on me early on and I recognized how special his playing was with Chuck Mangione. I loved "Feels So Good", but also "Give It All You Got"...both songs to this day still give me the chills when I listen to them. They are both masterpieces, IMHO. They remind me of a much better era of life when beautiful music was the norm and it could reach the top of the charts... even an instrumental without singing. Cheers!

Being born and raised in Rochester a million years ago....Chuck was such a huge influence on the music scene and on me and my friends. Brilliant arranger, composer and player. Untold numbers of great musicians passed through his bands...not just Gadd. He also did a lot to help Eastman School of Music establish its Jazz program, sold a ton of records and .....will always be remembered for what he and his music did for the city of Rochester. I saw him live several times as he performed his recordings with the Rochester Philharmonic. Those concerts were incredible for all to hear and always sold out!! Chuck's younger brother Gap Mangione (keyboards) still lives in Rochester and still gigs in the area. RIP Chuck and condolences to all his friends and family.

This one hits hard. Between Feels So Good and Live at Hollywood Bowl, I had so many hours of inspiration and listening. That band was so good, and I can only imagine it must have been such a magical time for them. RIP, Chuck Mangione.
