Hi there. I've just joined and hope that someone out there can give me some idea as to what these cymbals are. I have an 11 1/2 inch cymbal which looks like a K Constantinople cymbal, not sure if it is!! which I don't know much about - would like to know the year and value. The other photo is of 2 cymbals which look like marching hand cymbals but not sure of the stamp?? Doesn't say they are Zildjian - would like to know the year and value. These 2 cymbals come from a Beverly Generation Console & Carlton drums with some interesting accessories. The other question I would like help on is a possible pre WW1 German Sonor snare drum - any ideas as to what it is, year and possible value? Would appreciate any help.

Don’t see those marching snares much in the US. Here is your model for sale in Germany aka the Hitler Youth snare

Thank you so much for your info. I shall have a look at the links you have sent me. :)

The K Zildjian Constantinople stamp image is a little small for me to be sure, but I'd say a Type 3. See:

Prices for these are higher for the relatively rare larger diameters, but under 13 inch generally sell in the range $75 - $215. The median price is $115, based on a sample of 22. I have grouped together the 4 types to get a reasonable sample size. These prices are in USD excluding shipping. There is lots of variability in prices which arises in part from: condition, weight, sound, and seller reputation. I see you are in the UK and prices there are a little higher, but the whole topic of international comparisons isn't one I have time to go into right now.

The other cymbal stamp is one of the many not well documented trademarks, but believed to be Italian in origin. The generic term for these is Ersatz K and they are documented in catalogs from 1912 on.

I believe I've got an example of one like yours in my records but I'll have to go looking.

Here is a 14" cymbal with the same stamp. It weighs 1260g. Appeared on eBay in Feb 2017. The treatment of the mounting hole suggests a field or marching band cymbal, although it could make a nice bottom hat in modern usage.

These Ersatz Ks are generally worth less than a corresponding diameter genuine K Zildjian. Sometimes sellers represent them as K Zildjian, but I can't tell whether that is purposeful or accidental. I do know (from previous research on over 1,000 cymbals) that about 25% of vintage cymbals are not correctly identified as to maker or decade. Occasionally one sells for the expected price of a genuine K Zildjian but it is hard to know why. I can't peer into the minds of buyers or sellers to know what they believe. :dontknow:
