The World Drum Festival 2023 at Pop Academy Mannheim (Germany) was hosted by Anika Nilles and Udo Dahmen.

Hope you Forumites get as many inspirations as I did last weekend.
 
I guess this is kind of like our "World" Series only having teams from the US. I'm guessing those are mostly German drummers, but I only know a couple of the names.
 
Some are from Poland, France or Turkey (at least his parents), but you're right: most are Germans, and the "World" is not much more than Western Europe, of course.
The first one, Bodek Janke, studied tablas in New York and India. And Murat Coksun studied all kinds of oriental percussion. So, there was definitely some 'World Music' vibe.
But I also missed some of the young American cracks. Of course, it's a question of budget to fly them in. The meeting was completely free of charges. And it was mainly about the master classes, which took place during afternoon. These videos are the evening concerts.

I didn't mean to sound snarky.. just an observation. Clearly some very talented folks even if some of it is not to my taste.

I would love to do one of these in Boston.
