Had two mini lobster rolls tonight, cold and warm, brioche toasted inside and out, both fantastic.

Also had some beautiful golden Black Sea beluga caviar.

Second picture was a sensational fried lobster with that same beautiful caviar.

I only got all this lobster tonight because of all of the amazing lobster journeys, everyone has reported on here , ended up getting me so hungry for lobster AGAIN :)

I prefer Connecticut style warm with butter, but I also don't enjoy a mayonaise based seafood or lobster salad.

This thread made me think about a similar topic that may be controversial. What's everyone's favorite clam chowder style?

Mine is Rhode Island which I hadn't known about until I was helping my buddy move there.

We don't have too many options in Phoenix so the first time I had one was beginning of this year at a place called Angie's Lobster. It was a cold one for under $10 and I liked it enough I'd go back. Reviews say it's pretty on par with the average tourist trap roll on the east coast. Not amazing but not bad, especially for the price.

Since you brought up lobster roll tourist traps, try driving through Wiscasset, ME on a sunny summer weekend. Enjoy the massive traffic jam that crawls right past Red's Eats...considered THE BEST lobster rolls in ME...$30-50 a pop. People wait in line all afternoon for them. So a $10 roll is either a great deal on a lobster roll or a potential health hazard. :D

It’s actually a good roll, not necessarily great, but surprisingly good!

I went back to Nomans in Oak Bluffs on Martha’s Vineyard for dinner tonight and had another spectacular lobster roll. The photo doesn’t do it justice.

I’m heading down there soon, to get myself another one of these babies, haven’t been there in a bit, but I certainly remember it’s greatness!

Love your love for lobster rolls … oh yea, and Craviotto :)

Set up a trip to both Maine and Massachusetts over the next eight days, you guessed it, just to try both their lobster rolls again!

Thanks guys. This is all your fault :)

Absolutely LOVE the reply’s!!

Thanks guys , you all always make me feel so welcomed and want to be part of this wonderful place , by allowing all my “silly” threads to have some kind of meaningful “message”.

The message here is - food rules!

NJ has two of the very best I have ever tried.

Cape Cod has 1 of the most amazing I have ever had.

Maine always the top dog for me!

Cold > warm no doubt.

All of the above changed last night, Rhode Island took the cake, wasn’t even close, and it wasn’t even cold. I still haven’t gotten off of my feet it swept me so hard!

FOOTNOTE - I had not eaten in 107 hours prior to that bite :)
Where in Rhode Island? I live in Providence. We're better known for our New York System Hot Wieners and Coffee Milk.

OK, both of these moments are coming up fast, is the best ferry still Hy-Line Cruises to get to Martha Vineyards from within Massachusetts. I have a direct seating in Maine so I’m covered.

We should’ve met up!! Three locations all were awesome - The Mooring and The Nordic had a private tasting event. But , Castle Hill, took the cake!

I’m a DIYer and am not near the coast so a great Lobster Roll sounds like a challenge. Kenji is my guru so I’ll start here.

From within Massachusetts, the best ferry service to Martha’s Vineyard is The Steamship Authority in Woods Hole. If you’re bringing a vehicle you need a reservation. If you’re coming over on foot, you don’t need a reservation.

There’s also Island Queen (on foot only) from Woods Hole to Oak Bluffs. Normans is about a mile from the ferry in OB.

Red’s near Bar Harbor, cold. We drove by and didn’t stop because of the huge line. Came back the other way an hour later and there was no line, so we stopped. Also had lobster roll in Fort Myers, Florida. Also very good, but not the same. You’ve got me thinking that Lobster Roll is a great name for a jazz combo!

I haven't had too many because I have a strong distaste for mayonnaise, and you never know they might sneak it in. I could go for a lobster roll with just butter though. That sounds amazing.
btw, I liked it better when mayonnaise used to be called mayonnaise. Putting in some garlic salt and calling it aioli doesn't make it aioli.
