I've been a long time admirer of William Leclerc's wok (and his father Gilles') for a while. Enough to buy Ebenor's uber exclusive 10th anniversary kit and snare (elm stave) constructed out of the lumber from an historic tree.

I freakin' loooooove that elm kit's feel and sound, but the visuals, although gorgeous, don't quite match my band's stage aesthetics. I needed something a little less boutique/fine woodworking and a little more vintage-y. Also, I needed something weather resistant, our temps can swing WILDLY from dead freezing in the winter to scorching hot and humid in the summer.

Soooo Will said "if you'd like, I could wrap an aluminum kit for you, that way you can leave it in the truck in any weather, it can rain on the stage, it'l never crack nor go out of round... plus, the added mass of the wrap is gonna warm up the tone and shorten the sustain a tiny bit wich will bring it tonally closer to a wood kit than a metal kit."

He didn't need to say more. A deal was struck right then and there. And a few weeks later, the kit i s done and will go on its inaugural gig this friday. In the meantime, here are a few pics of the kit and Ebenor's shop

the only thing not made in-house is the wrap (Delmar) and the BD claws. Tom and snare hoops and hardwarr are brass. BD hoops are cherry. Will even designed his own snare throw-off mechanism. And it is a ting of beauty. The whole kit is just drop-dead gorgeous, with the tone to match its looks.

Very nice kit! Good job. I know you will get a lot of enjoyment out of it.
On a side note, I LOVE seeing a super clean and organized shop.
Haha, they must have did a cleanup before the pictures!
But yes, beautiful drums, they nailed the vintage look, love the rims and bass drum spurs.

my immediate thoughts exactly!!! i've always been taken by the spurs/floor tom legs on my A&F kits but these might actually take first prize in the vintage-look arena!
and DUDE!!!! what's up with that strainer!?! i'm in love (if just aesthetically)...all of the drums of his i've seen used that stupid trick nonsense :p

No poorly finished ugly welds here.... I won't name any names, those who know what I'm refering to know....
dang clean work, BUT...per the dig...bad rap and not really accurate or deserved :p i own and regularly use 3 of 'their' kits [brass, steel and feather weight aluminium] and every drum/weld is as clean or cleaner...just sayin...

Ebenor make wonderful drums for sure . What a great idea wrapping the aluminum shells . I love aluminum shells for drums . They are so fat and resonant .
Congratulations on the new kit .

These look great! Are they heavy?
Less than my USAC's

Isaid it in jest.... I also own one of that other brand's alu snares wich sounds amazing but is one of the (probably earlieer) ugly welds, doesn't bother me none ;-)
