Yup. Hence the price. Is this the Gauger one?
Changed it. They are Gauger. Who is the only one to make aluminum rims.My question as well, and while I know we think of Gretsch as having die cast hoops, those are also known as "rims." What you've got might be better named "Gretsch RIMS mount."
Just trying to help.
Well, if weight's a consideration they're much lighter than TIMS (I have both). What is the benefit to an aluminum rims mount?
Explained in detail by the man himself. What is the benefit to an aluminum rims mount?
The company said a few years ago that steel was .14 cents a pound and aluminum was $1.70 a pound (8x more than steel) to purchase as raw material. Today would even be way more. Hence rims went from $60 to $180. Today they could be closer to $225 if they were to continue. I think the high increase in price led to fewer buyers and likely put them out of business. They are super light and yet totally sturdy. I have quite a few myself, but I can't imagine someone can't make them for a more reasonable price, though.....
It would work, but this one is longer than the other ones which are shorter and made for 6 lugs. This is the later version with the “adjustable flange” so it can accommodate any 12” tom (not JUST the 5-lug) due to the fact that you can move all 3 of those t-rod insert points around. Might open up your buyer pool a bit. I have them on a bunch of my toms and they are great. Good luck with the sale.
