Also, I'm using my DW thin walled 6.5x14 with the FatHead to lower the pitch for that low Stan Lynch snare sound.

Thanks. The first was a cherry kit and to me it had more of a vintage sound. I sold it to a DFO Bra. I prefer maple. Same sizes. 22/13/16avedisschwinn said:everything sounds great, including the cymbals. One story I never heard - you had a Crav set and sold it pretty quick, right? Did you know you wanted a different Crav kit when you sold the first one, or did you just miss it and realize you had to get another? What are the core differences between kits 1 and 2?
Thanks. Just got it yesterday and set it up in my studio. Thing sounds great. Wide tuning range and very sensitive. Right now I'm digging a lower tuning. We'll see tonight since I rehearse with my funk rock band. I'll probably tune it higher.cochlea said:Sounds nice. What's the status of the Johnny C snare you ordered?

Dan - when you get some free time can you post a review of the Johnny C? I'm interested in the build quality (which I assume is superb) and the types of music it is best suited for since I've never had a chance to play a sold shell snare. Thanks!DanRH said:Thanks.
