I bought these drums 44yrs ago. Fun to play and a nice change from my kit drums.
Quinto, Conga, Tumba, SuperTumba and Bongos.

that Super...wow...that is....plump...do you gig them at all?

Awesome! And legendary - treasures, man!
I have some 70's LPs and what I believe to be Gon Bops. Love 'em, even though I'm really a drum set player.

I rarely even take them out of the cases. When I bought them in 77 I took them out of the house to jam twice and two of them to music lessons twice with the late Dido Morris in Vancouver B.C.
That was all in 1977 and 78. I took the two drums... Quinto and Conga... once to Stanley Park in 1979 to a full moon ceremony with other hand drum players. There were probably 50 of us playing together. Dido Morris was in the middle leading. Fun times. I have only played them a few times since about 1984.
Never giged with them.

I’ve owned LP Oak and Fiberglass, Toca and Gon Bops but never Valje.
I have played them though and they are great sounding congas!
Beautiful drums you have there.

No. I did take them outside at a local park once. Set them up and played for an hour or so... all alone haha... hey, it was the 70s.

Hi Kona - I just recently joined DFO. I've been looking for a nice set of vintage Valje Congas and noticed your add. They look super nice and was wondering if you would be interested in selling them? I purchased some Gonbops many years ago and now I'm kicking myself for selling them.

Thanks, Steve

Steve. I'm not selling them at this time.

Appreciate your quick response Kona. When you're ready to sell them, I would like to purchase the whole set including the bongos.
They're not cheap. I turned down $5k usd when I put them for sale on 2011.
I'm happy I didn't part with them.

I have pieced together a Valje Conga, quinto and super quinto from different sellers and refinished them and put skin hoops and new rawhide skins and bot a LP Armando Perazza set of bongos cause I couldnt find an original old set. I would be willing to pay the price to get a matched set... If you ever decide to sell them, Im a valid cadididate
