I stick the cord in thru the back of the holes & tie in front. I love these strainers, but the asymmetrical hole layout has bugged me for years......marko

Get a spool of waxed cord from your local craft store. Best stuff. Strong, holds dead tight when you tie it and it's not messy.

I tie it with a square knot but bypass the holes and loop around the top edges. Someone here suggested that. One thing that is nice about it if you change the snare head you can leave this end of the snares attached to the cord.

I was going to mention this. You can just bring the cord ends up behind the inverted t-part with the holes, and just tie your preferred knot (another question) in front of the center stem. Removeable without untying the knot. The holes were meant for tying single gut snares, not wire sets.

Window blind cord works fine. I singe the ends lightly after cutting them.

I saved these pics from an old thread and forgot to note who took them, so apologies for not giving proper credit. If I remember correctly, the original post talked about an old snare that was purchased and this was how the snares were tied. Looks pretty easy and tensioning the snares tightens the knots like with a square knot.

That's clever, too.
Looking at this i was reminded that for removal of the reso head, you can also unscrew that bottom part and leave knots tied.
