Dimagg333 Account Suspended?

This is a perfect time to slide the "new" retailers forum into the "defunked" "professionals dead area" spot!!
I'd like to thank "Dimagg" for sacrificing himself for a week or so to make this happen. I'm sure the powers to be will take advantage of this opportunity to "uplift" the community into the new year with a better site filled with more info and love!!

Well, as impatient a person as I am, I am withholding judgment and avoiding speculation. There have been theories put forth about competitors complaining that I have seen no evidence of, yet these thoughts gain legs and become "fact" to some people. The fact is that we don't know the facts. I really like Steve and would do business with him in a heartbeat, just as I would some of our other retail connections on this site. I think Ben and the mods have been pretty fair over time so I owe them the benefit of the doubt. A lack or response to date could mean that they feel it's inappropriate to respond to a personal matter. If Steve did do something that was against forum rules (certainly not saying he has), then that would be between the Forum and Steve. It's like personnel issues at work. The employer is not at liberty to discuss discipline issues. Here, of course, it wouldn't be illegal or create liability for the forum, but the same privacy etiquette would be appropriate.

In all, I guess I just encourage patience. We all seem to agree that Steve is a standup guy so we can't believe he would do something wrong. Well, I also believe Ben is a standup guy who, over time, has earned my trust.

OK, I'm not Matt, but I will make a guess at this: Because he, and a lot of people here, seem to feel that Dimagg333's suspension is arbitrary and unfair, and it gives them a bad feeling frequenting a forum where the "good guys" get run off.

While I'm poking my nose in here, there's a conversation about "ownership" of this site. I used to frequent Vdrums.com, and they were supported by ad revenue. I don't know where this site's support comes from other than the donations it receives. I would argue that by accepting donations the owners have, at least to some small extent, invited others into the ownership circle. Yes, the owner can do whatever he wants - he has the password - but for this forum to be a functioning community, there has to be accountability to the members.

OK Here is what I know.. A few weeks ago Steve was withdrawing the DFO 13 Discount because it was being supported by Russos advertising budget. That wasn't allowed under the "rules". Then he was asked to refrain from mentioning Russo in posts. Steve does not control the content of posts from other members and threads got pulled because they mentioned him or Russo. The last straw was the Ringo thread yesterday that got pulled Steve was informed his account was suspended and that he was to call Ben. Ben didn't leave a number.
Pretty hard to call someone when your account is under suspension and you don't have any other contact info. W&A Player . I have always liked you Your to the point with no not true.
I have a little of Steve's side but nothing from the owner or admins of DFO. I don't know who is right or wrong . In fact I don't know if there is a right and wrong here. BUT I like and respect Steve and when something like this happens with a thread that is now running to 5 pages and nobody from DFO has offerd any kind of rebuttal it reeks.

I think that you just said what I was trying to say. But, you did it in a much more civil way than I did.

So far only two posts from the mods in what has to be the biggest dust-up I have seen on this forum, none of which shed any light on the bruhaha. I would very much like to hear management's side of the story. Otherwise, the members (the people who make this forum what it is) are left wondering what the heck is going on, and speculation will run rampant.
 
While I appreciate the interest in this matter. There are further things and discussions that I am either doing or will do.

I am trying to do what is best overall for DFO. And to wildly jump to conclusions doesn't do anybody any good.

For openers the comment about I was to have Steve call me and I never left a phone number is incorrect.

The wonderful thing about owning a website is you get to make the rules, I dont know the mods directly, and I dont know Russo Music, and honestly I dont know what happened nor do I care. Again I was a Mod on a Mopar Car site and we had very simple but strict guidelines, usually a warning is applied and I dont know if that was the case or not but , hey My house my rules.

I will say this If I did block someone and he took the time to contact me and explain and or apologize whatever the case may be, it went a LONG way. I suggest Russo do the same, because rumors and word of mouth random posts will not rectify the situation no matter how intense the lobbiest persues.

Thank you for clearing that up. I respectfully withdraw that comment. As I said, I don't know if there is a right or wrong here or what is going on. I have respect for you and this forum and I have respect for Steve.

I agree with Ben on this. The conclusions and accusations need to stop! The admins and mods will come out with an explanation when they are ready, give them time to figure the issue out. I dont think any of us truly know the WHOLE story, with all the details, so lets suspend with the whining and threats. I agree an explanation is due, but if the issue is still being resolved with Steve or among the admins/mods then we need to let it be solved, before casting such harsh judgement. Best way to clear this up= owners/admins/mods, provide an explanation as soon as possible. Everyone else simmer down, after all this is just the internet lol. If the rumors are or are not true, wait for the facts and stop judging and ranting based off rumor. If its true then I absolutely side with most of you, but until an explanation is offered, it would be very ignorant to be any place but the middle of the road on this.

If the rumors are true I would be just as pissed as everyone else, but passing judgement on DFO without hearing their side is stupidly ignorant. Democracy and fairness in this case, would be hearing the WHOLE case out. That is all I am saying!

Well, I don't know what the hell happened. Most importantly, neither do any of you. I've never bought from Russo nor any other retailers here, but I have asked him for advice and he seemed like a really well-put together and reasonable guy. I've also seen his posts and have watched his youtube videos for reviews and comparisons of items. Overall I have to say that he was a good contribution to DFO and to the drumming community at large. Secondly, DFO is the best drum site on the web. Period. No ads, awesome, (until today) drama-free community, Layton and (well I don't know any other mods) the mods starting a crapstorm and banning him for no reason makes little to no sense. As much as we like to think that things like this are some grand conspiracy, the much more likely situation is infinitely more droll. Dimag probably had a s**tty day or something, or the stress of giving all of you such excellent service over these years boiled over and cursed at someone or something, or posted a pic of his naked girlfriend, or crossed some social bound without thinking as we all are apt to do from time to time.
