I am just trying to get an idea of the different drum set's that are really good... if 'all could post your favorite ones... i would really like that... thanks!

Check out my drum page below in signature line. Scroll to the bottom and there are about 15 sets I've owned in the last 10 years...(not including the five I have now). All were my favorites or I wouldn't have owned them.

Ps, I'm a light weight when it comes to number of kits owned though. This forum's got tons of resources....

I hate to steer this thread so early, but once it gets started talking about the best, you're talking Sunluck, and nothing can beat my Sunluck Galvanized Sexto-Plus kit, with the Corinthian Formica inlays. Everything else pails in comparison.

I like "First Act" to get that funky wet sound.

Sunluck, the gift that keeps giving

1971 champagne sparkle Super Classics. 22 13 16.Maple interiors. Belong to guitarist friend and will absolutely not let them go.All I can do is cry....BennyK.

dw collectors maple
yamaha oak custom
tama starclassic birch/bubinga

those are my favs

Personally I'm a Ludwig fan ... vintage and modern. Gretsch Catalinas are good but USAs are the original real thing IMO.

Yamaha is good as is Tama and Mapex which is probably the best $ value out there right now.

Sonor, DW, and some not all but SOME of the Peace offerings are good.

Vintage it's Rogers and Slingerland, Camco, George Way, Leedy ....

Kinda depends on if you want a modern vibe or a vintage vibe or both. There are several companies that make custom drums of good quality and value that are members here such J.R. Frondelli of Frondelli Drums, Tom Wells of Wells Custom Drums, John Riolo with American Drum Parts, Ron Soyden with his custom snares and I'm sure I'm missing a couple of others.

The best drum kits are the ones that pack themselves into your car at the end of the night.

I just missed out on a Naugahyde-wrapped Sunluck kit on my local Craigslist. Pretty pissed about it.

THAT would've been the best.. kit.. ever.

The drums that are in my drum room at any given moment are my favorites at that time. I sometimes think of drums that i used to own, and wish I still had some of them. But, I really like those that I currently have. Two of my seven kits that will probably stay with me for a long, long time--maybe forever are my 1963 Rogers Holiday kit in Champagne Sparkle and my 1963 Leedy Shelly Manne kit in Black Diamond Pearl.

Just remembered: Pearl fibreglass from the 70's.How come they're no longer made?Xtra thin shells, that resonate even with the hardwareon !!Plus the first yammies from @ 70 the ones with the real beefy shells.Benny K.

I love all 3 of mine. If I could only keep one it would be the 7pc Mapex M Birch. Very Steve Smith type setup. Drop the 8" and move the racks to a stand and its Weckl. That's a lot of hero worship from one kit.
22x18 kick 8/10/12" racks, 14/16 floors.

Followed by the PDP Maple CXR kit.. The Bonham influence, but not exactly
24x18" kick. 12" rack 14/16" floors

Finally the 4pc Gretsch Catalina Club jazz kit
18" kick 12/14" toms
