George Suranovich's playing on Love's "Talking In My Sleep" from their 1969 album "Four Sail" is one that comes to mind for me recently. Pretty simple usage throughout but much more effective than a standard crash would have been in its place in my opinion (altho there is a secondary crash used in parts of the song as well). Sits really nice in the mix and I like the sound they got out of it, whatever it was. Coulda been a garbage can lid for all I know, but it's got a distinct China sound to my ears anyway.
