You don't look like spring chickens and so riding in regular vans and trying to sleep sitting up with your head resting on the window is no longer considered as paying your dues.
Congrats on your decision and hopefully this bus will not only make travel much more tolerable but lead you all to linger on a few years as your band seems to be in demand.
Chive on !
Dues have been paid, many times over... trust me on that!!

You're right that sleeping all bunched up in the corner of a van's back seat is no longer something we are willing to do. Noght driving is something we try real hard to avoid. In regular circumstances, we are organizing booking so that it makes geographical sense. But right now because of the mega mess of the last few years, prior year's shows just being re-scheduled instead of plain cancelled, this summer is a cluster F logistically...

And I have played for 65 plus years and many gigs. I've also
been in business as a manager and/or owner in high stress situations but a lot of the gigs equaled the stress level of business, which is what giging is anyway. And then to do it in a travelling road show format like you ??? You could be considered
totally "certifiable" you know !

Let's see this band! in action!
(there was an action thread but couldn't find so use this one?)
I'm not often in a position where I can film the band, but here's a promo EPK we send to venues prior to booking. It gives a pretty good idea what the show looks/sounds like... I have explained it a lot in many threads but not everybody digs deep soo here's the condensed back story:

we are all musicians (mostly lead singers) who have decided to form a band on a whim almost as a dare, or a joke. We mostly play instruments that aren't our main area of expertise (like me on drums) and we also rotate positions a couple times in the show. BUT, the show took off, people liked it a lot. The response far exceeded our expectations and now the "joke" side project has become the main thing...

So you got the French-speaking part of Canada wrapped up. Smart as hell!
There's probably a European tour in your future. To France!
Drums sound good in the ending there..

Thanks a lot! I appreciate the thumbs up. I can't bring much to the table in terms of drumming except maybe some decent drums tones, my forward attitude and my own sort of bounce to the tunes. I'm having the time of my life doing it though. And the audience don't seem to mind, even when I fumble half-way through my 8 bars drum break/mini-solo...

But well, you know, some of the much discussed cats around here also didn't have a whole lot more than that in their technical tool box when they started their careers (some even didn't have much more at the end either... ) ;-)

Yeah we got some great offers to go to France: we shoot a multi artist TV show at the end of august that will be aired in France, Belgium, Luxembourg, Switzerland and Canada. There will be collabs with some of France's biggest stars (a few of them are originaly from Canada and are good friends of ours) so that'll probably generate even more interest. But at the moment, we are booked pretty solid all the way through 2023. So big stretches in europe will have to be a little further down the line.

So there you have it, now you can understand the dichotomy of me sometimes asking for help on some stuff even mediocre begginer drummers should know and me posting pics of my kit on some big stages in theaters or festivals...

I am both a beginner drummer AND a veteran recording/performing artist at the same time...

Something about those Broadcasters wins. ;) But like I've said before, your kit made me mad about red sparkle!
Well they are the Glass glitter version wich somehow reflects light in more of a random pattern. The finish also looks a bit deeper than the regular sparkles, but the sparkles have that absolutely classic look. Can't go wrong with some red sparkle Ludwigs such as yours either...

you're not a beginner drummer you play Red Sparkle Gretsch : ) you're a Pro : )
Hey (if Ash Sloan can get an endorsement..) : )
I'm gonna print a T-shirt that says :

"I'm a pro... JDA said so..."

If only just to see puzzled looks and get 4 or 5 "Hey Joe! (Yeah I go by Joe as well) who's JDA?" each time I wear it...

Then if I ever meet someone who knows, we'll be able to instantly share DFO stories and inside jokes...

I’m such a sucker for harmonies and man you guys kill it!!!!!
Thank you, harmonies are the only area of our sound where we can be a little more confident (every band member is a lead singer).

I told the joke in another thead but it is too good to not recycle it:

We were singing together one night and we jammed on a few Eagles tunes wich we sorta nailed, or we thought we nailed because, well, jazz cigarettes and whatnot... And one of us said "Damn! We are like a bargain bin version of the Eagles, we're the Seaguls...." hillarity ensued...
Now when we practice harmonies and get a great chorus or a bridge, one of us will whisper ".... Seaguls...." and we'll all burst out laughing,... Every single time...

I would love to see some harmonie videos!!!

I almost never flip out my phone to record anything save some pics of my drums (I've got millions of those!!!)

But here is a 3 part harmony tune we shot at CBC Montreal's famous Studio 12. The mic is a late 50's Neuman U49 owned by the blond gentleman on the right. I'm the scrappy one in the center. That was recorded in Mono, both the baritone guitar and bass are playing through the same amp!!! So 1 mic for the voices, one mic for the amp, summed in mono.
